Definitely do not rent equipment here and try not to stay here unless you're completely desperate. ||||I wish we had read the reviews about their crappy equipment before it was too late.||||I really wanted to like this place but almost everything was bad. The only exception was Edmundo, who gave us some good trekking advice and was super nice. And I guess breakfast was ok. That's it for positives - aside from this, everything was a disaster. ||||Let's start with equipment rentals: Our tent bashed our face on night 2 in the winds, then leaked in night 3 in the rain - so on night 4 we had to rent another one up the mountain. Our stove top set on fire on night 1, so after our tent leaked we sat around in the middle of the night in a little hut freezing cold and unable to light a fire or make some tea. Our sleeping bags were freezing - definitely not "minus 5" and our mats were like cardboard. If you rent equipment here you are going to carry garbage on your back for days and end up having to rent or borrow more - rent elsewhere in town (there are plenty of good places).||||Then there are the rooms and hostel itself: Wifi worked about 30% of the time (the place is far too crowded - they have crammed way too many rooms into a small 2 storey home), we booked a double and got a twin with separated beds, showers are luke warm-cold, we got laundry done here (it's in house) and they left it soaking wet in the machine overnight - we took it out and hung it up ourselves (there is no dryer, they hang clothes all over the house), floors are creaky and loud, walls are paper thin - if you do end up staying here then bring ear plugs, there isn't really anywhere to sit or hang out since there is equipment everywhere - including on the tables. All in all: loud, far too crammed and breaking at the seams. ||||In summary, pretty much anything that could went wrong, and they offered us only a partial refund that didn't even cover the 2nd set of tents, sleeping bags and mats we had to rent on the final night. In addition, the woman we spoke to upon dropping off our equipment seemed to suggest it was our fault - she was unsympathetic and regarding the tent, said "Ok well, I don't understand how this is possible, since it has never happened before." Well the many reviews on here show that this is obviously not true...||||My advice would be to avoid...
Read moreNot sure where to start... Walked in without a booking (as I always do in every city and every country I visit) and asked if they had a bed available. The owner said there is one, but a moment later he said we'll have to wait if a person who booked the full room will let me share. I wanted to continue my search for a hostel elsewhere but he politely insisted that I'd stay. Ok. The person who booked the full room came back and was happy to share. The price for the night was 12000 pesos. ||The owner seemed to be very nice and even gave me proper clothes for hiking. The next day I've paid for 3 nights there to the hostel' assistant and forgot to take receipt (my bad), but in the evening the owner said that I shouldn't have made a booking as there is no space (!!!) to which I replied that they shouldn't have taken my reservation then and I can find another hostel, but the owner insisted that I can definitely stay another night, and if worst comes to worst I can spend a night in his room (yes, really). That day I came back from the excursion to find my stuff by the room' door, even though there was a bed for me. I was furious but unfortunately it was very late to move anywhere, so I told them I'm moving tomorrow. The owner said no problem and he'll return my money for one night. ||Before the last night at Puerto Natales, having packed all my stuff, I was ready to move to another hostel (which I easily found). The owner wasn't there and the assistant only gave me back 10000 pesos, insisting that that was the price. He said that I had no booking and should have been grateful... (But if you've paid already, doesn't it mean you have a booking?) At that point I've had enough, so I left. ||Very unprofessional, those two are quiet a pair - like good cop bad cop. The whole time they were acting like they're doing me a huge favour by letting me stay there, as if I begged for it. ||PS: writing this review from another hostel which I...
Read moreWould leave 0 stars if I could. The owners were racist and treated me rudely and disrespectfully. They kicked me out for “making a mess in the kitchen” and gave me 2 minutes to pack everything and leave when I did not leave a mess and there were several other guests staying there, of which only I was accused. They did not care that I didn’t have data or if I had booked a place to stay for the night, they just told me to get out. Other people left their dishes in the sink overnight but this was not an issue for them. The night before I was not allowed to boil water to make noodles after a long hike and getting straight back from the bus but they allowed other people to keep using the kitchen and boil water and use the oven. Someone had to sneak me food so I wouldn’t starve because I was not allowed in the kitchen yet the others were. They would tell me I had 5m to pack up my stuff from the kitchen and leave yet other people had all the luxuries I didn’t. They would miscommunicate with each other and blame me, saying I didn’t reserve when I had reserved and talked to people working there as the people running the place were never around. They accused me of not paying when I paid for all my nights instantly. I was made to feel like a dog and I was nothing more than respectful, leaving the kitchen when I was told even though it was unfair, making sure I would close the doors gently while making food or such in the morning as to not wake anyone, I was given no explanations for anything, just abuse. There was mould in the shower and the bed had bed bugs. From the moment they saw me they were incredible disrespectful and unwelcoming. I would’ve preferred them to turn me away rather than having to endure abuse so much so I booked another place before they had said anything as I was scared to do anything in the place as they would find a reason...
