Walking through the door, I got a pretty weird vibe. We were greeted by a nice lady who showed us our room. The only thing on the door was a pad lock. It was really small, it had two beds, it's own bathroom, and no windows. |She then went on about how since we were just walking in she was giving us a "special" rate which seemed outrageously high for what you get. She does accept credit cards but insisted that it required a 19% tax. I later found out that it is true for Chilean citizens and resident foreigners, but you're otherwise exempt by showing a passport and paying with US dollars. Then she offered to take US dollars but gave us a ridiculous exchange rate. |It wasn't too late to keep looking, but we were tired and hungry, so we took it for two nights so we wouldn't have to be walking around with our packs the next day looking for another place. |Late in the evening, when we were trying to go to bed, there was loud conversation and kids running through the hall. Read moreI spent 3 nights with my partner in his hostal in January 2011. ||It has basic and small rooms, even if they put a small TV on the top of a cabinet, which cabinet had no space but 2 plastic cloth hangers in it.||The walls of the room are very thin, and I could hear the tooth brushing in the next room. There is a heater in the room. ||The breakfast is bread and few things on a big table with plastic cover and many plastic recipients with Nescafe and margarine, Breakfast is taken with the family. ||Bathroom has hot water, but the hairbrush and towel remain outside, for lack of space. There is a computer at the door entry, but slow Internet connection and the keyboard typed with 2 mn delay on the screen. ||This place that would cost few years ago 5 to 7 euros, we paid 30.000 Chilian pesos = 50 euros, too expensive.||The atmosphere is contrived and friendly only by necessity, as if the customers are a nuisance. Read moreWe didn't book the place till we arrived at punta arena at 7am.||We were able to check in at 7am and got some sleep after flying 21hours non stop.||1. Yes room is SMALL! And green carpet isn't attractive. But able to sleep was our priority and shower works with hot water was a plus though also very small.||2. Location is fine just 5 min to main square and 10 min to Bus sur terminal and supermarket||3.
