Hostal Cardenal — Hotel in Santiago

WARNING: It is dangerous to stay here. This review is long overdue, I stayed here in March 2019. This place is a DEATH TRAP and would not meet the fire safety codes of any modern developed country. The entire building is made of wood, has a coutyard with high walls topped with barbed wire (see pictures on Google Maps), every window has a metal grate (prevents thieves from breaking in, but also prevents people from being able to get out), the side doors are locked, and the main entrance has several doors, one of which is a metal gate that has to be unlocked with a key (and is closed and locked at night). If a fire were to break out at night everyone in the building would perish.

I stayed here 1 night, and woke up early to catch a flight. I couldn't get out of the building or get in touch with the staff to unlock the door. I waited around for 2+ hours and missed my flight (which ended up costing me...

A Formal school a bit out of the Center of Santiago the Chile. A 15 to 20 minute Walk brings you to the Center. The Building is very impressive and has lots of character.
