The Bauhinia Hotel Central — Hotel in Hong Kong

This past month, we enjoyed two 3-day weekend stays at Bauhinia Central Hotel on Des Voeux Road, a simple mid-range property that has made for a very good hotel during the pandemic in Hong Kong. Room rates have been around 33% of what they were pre-pandemic while room quality and service levels have remained the same, beyond mandatory government restrictions .||||Reservations were made on booking.com where we found the best room rates. Confirmations were received immediately, check-ins quick, simple and we were up in our rooms within 5 minutes of arriving at the property. ||||Service is always friendly and polite at the front desk. There is a fourth floor common room with all day espresso machine, tables, TV and two internet terminals. A light morning breakfast is served here as well. Additionally, a small gym and washing machine facility is found on the fourth floor. Unfortunately, during the fifth (Omicron) wave, these facilities were off limits during our January stays, as mandated by the local government. ||||Rooms are simple, straightforward and functional at Bauhinia Central Hotel - they are absolutely more than sufficient given the low nightly rates available these days. Decor is simple, there is plenty of closet and open space. Furnishing is functional. There is a small work desk, rolling chair, flat screen TV, kettle, room safe, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, medium firm bed. A/C and lighting work just fine. Importantly, our bed the past two stays was quite comfortable, allowed great rest.||||The bathroom in our room the past two stays was normal sized, some rooms have very small bathrooms. Of note, the wifi signal was not great during our January stays. Service was interrupted from time to time. This was the only negative we experienced. ||||Overall, Bauhinia is a simple and basic place, fit for purpose if you plan to be out of your room the majority of the time and just need a casual place to sleep and relax while staying in Central. Nothing fancy here but they get the important things right and are very good value for money...

Recently stayed our 3rd weekend in a month at Bauhinia Hotel, taking advantage of the low room rates due to local protests and Coronavirus outbreak in Hong Kong. This is an excellent value for money property at the present room rates. Our stay this past weekend was of the same experience as the previous two weekends. ||||Reservation was made through booking.com, confirmation was received immediately. Payment was processed upon arrival, check-in quick as it always is. Staff are friendly and polite. ||||We really like the location of Bauhinia Central Hotel. There are numerous entries into the Sheung Wan MTR within 2-3 minutes to the hotel. You are within 5-6 minutes to the Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal and 10 minutes from Airport Express at Hong Kong Station. The Ding-Ding passes by the hotel, there are quite a few restaurants, bars and coffee shops within short walk from the hotel. ||||Hotel lobby is small, mostly just a check-in desk and access to lifts and staircase. However, on the fourth floor, there is a nice common area where espresso machine is available all day. They also serve a breakfast for hotel guests from 7-10am daily. You'll find a gym and self-service laundry room on the fourth floor as well. ||||During this weekend we stayed in one of their Executive Double Room. This is basically a split two room suite that is very quiet. There is a standard room with medium soft bed, good pillows, sofa seat placed at the end of the bed. There is a desk, rolling chair and flat screen TV and blackout curtains. In the smaller room, there is a sofa, a second flat screen TV, kettle, fridge, spacious closet, ironing board, safe and hair dryer. Bathroom was very spacious. Both TVs, A/C and wifi worked just fine...

We recently stayed at Bauhinia Central for long weekend and found almost everything to be consistent with our past stays at this functional mid-range property along Des Voeux Road in Central. ||||Reservation was made through booking.com where we found most affordable room rates. Booking confirmation was received immediately. We were well received upon arrival and check-in was very quick per usual. Service is friendly and polite at the front desk. There is a fourth floor common room with all day espresso machine, tables, TV and two internet terminals. A light morning breakfast is served here as well. Decor is simple, there is plenty of closet and open space. Furnishing is similarly modest and functional. There is a small work desk, rolling chair, flat screen TV, kettle, room safe, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, medium firm bed. A/C and lighting work just fine. ||||The bathroom in our room was really small this time around, other units have larger bathrooms. The wifi signal was poor during this stay. We were encountered fairly regular service disruptions which was a shame. This hasn't been a problem during previous stays at Bauhinia Central. ||||Overall, this is a simple and basic place, very much fit for purpose if you plan to be out of your room the majority of the time and just need an easy place to sleep and relax while staying in Central. While room rates are this low, Bauhinia Central will be a very good option for budget minded locals looking for good stay options in this area...
