We were wrapping up our vacation in Shanghai and met up with some friends to catch up on the last night of our stay. The service there was impeccable and the wait staff was professional and attentive. The atmosphere there brings one back to the hey days of Old Shanghai with the classic deco and furniture. Food was amazing and we ordered the set meal to make things easy and it was a fantastic choice! This restaurant specializes in hairy crabs and all their dishes are all related and every single one of the dishes absolutely delicious Prices are on the high end but I think worth every single cent. The one Michelin star is definitely well deserved. Highly recommended and definitely worth a visit the next time you are in Shanghai! Reservations essential!

Shanghainese haute cuisine with excellent 10 courses menu! Some courses come with interesting drinks, but not all (no real pairing available). Thus, we orderd a bottle of rice wine and one juice extra, plus water is constantly refilled. Mostly sequential, but some courses are served in parallel (with an apparatus to keep them warm). The dishes arr based on hairy crabs and other regional specialities and were very tasty but sometimes with a lack of presentation. Very nice interior and ambiente with live music! We had a seperated/private space for our dinner. Staff was very attentive with a few proficient in English and tried to explain ingredients. Overall, 1 Michelin star for Cheng Long Hang seems justified!

Came during the hairy crab season in Oct. Certainly worthy of their one Michelin star with the excellently executed dishes (the crab roe mixed rice which got them the Michelin had such a intense crab flavour, the broth in the crab xiaolongbao was infused with crabby goodness, the steamed egg with crab was so smooth). Staff were attentive as well, explained the differences between males and females and different price points. Make a reservation or go early as the place fills up (by 630pm the next seating was at 9pm). Very near to the Bund.

The setting is cosy and pleasant. The crab is served liberally in their set menu and the food tastes good but my main complaint is repetitiveness. We had the 588 yuan crab dinner menu and there was a lot of the same heavy flavor of crab and crab roe for several dishes straight. Wasn’t much of an effective twist in terms of flavors or textures so I felt like I was getting more and more of the same... this aspect of the set menu might be a bit of a turn off to anyone who isn’t a crab fanatic...

Got a private room for this gastronomic crab feast in a very 诗情画意 restaurant that brings you back to 古代茶楼feel, with 古筝 in the background 伴奏。all the crab dishes were fantastic and the star of the show steamed hairy crab 大闸蟹 were excellent, in presentation and in taste. Service is also excellent. It's quite pricey, but we were really full, both stomach and heart, after this gastronomic experience. This meal costs 1450 for 2 pax but is well worth every cent! Highly recommend!

This feels like one of those worldly institutions, a place you just have to visit. With professional and attentive staff. They do crab and they do it well. We choose the largest female crab to share (apparently more subtle in taste), they let you choose it and then they cut it up for you, if you prefer. The whole routine around it is just brilliant. The crab dumplings were amazing too.
