Let’s start with the good. The hotel is very charming, nice decor and very clean. The staff is friendly and the breakfast nice. So the reality: this is really more of an upscale hostel than “hotel”. Check in went well, however there were many things that could be improved if disclosed at check-in: you have to ask for key to in room safe (which is tiny), you have to ask for the hot water to be turned on for your shower, there is a really lovely upper outdoor terrace which no one advised us of so we only figured it out the night before we left. Wi-Fi was not provided on check-in, we had to come back and ask. All these things are really not that big of a deal but it would’ve made a lot of trips back to the front desk unnecessary. The most aggravating part of our experience was the noise. You hear absolutely everything including the doorbell to the hotel, which ruminates throughout even late at night, and very early in the morning. We were woken up at 4:30 AM twice due to chattering. We asked for two extra pillows, and they were not able to provide that for us until our last night. There were no cups in the rooms. Also, the room we had was number nine on the second floor, which was adequate, however there are no windows just a stained glass window which light would be men making it difficult to sleep. We were given a remote control for the television, which even with a battery change and never ended up working. Lastly, the hotel is on one of the steepest hills in the area. It is a good location just be prepared for a steep climb...

I have stayed at this hotel twice. Although there were many things about this Hotel that I enjoyed both times, when it came down to the nitty gritty details of customer service I found the administration terribly lacking.

As a foreigner visiting and not speaking the best Spanish, I arranged to use the Sauna they have in the hotel. What I heard was 5.000 pesos. But when I handed them 50.000 and was expecting 45.000 in change they gave me nothing back. I immediately mentioned that there was a huge misunderstanding and that I could not afford to pay that much and is there something that could be done, like even splitting the difference. The woman working at the desk was nice but said she would have to talk to her boss. Eventually I was able to talk to him but he said he could do nothing because of what the administrator told him. When I asked, the administrator would not even talk to me. I didn't even ask for all my money back, but if any sort of compromise could be made. For a high end hotel this is not the level of customer service that I would expect. They flat out refused to do anything to address the misunderstanding

Again, there are many nice things about the hotel, but as far as the higher management is concerned... money seems to be the only thing on their minds and because of this I would feel uncomfortable recommending...

Very nice clean and cosy hotel. Very centrally located in candelaria, with all kind of nice galleries and hip restaurants close by. Very authentic with great service, clean, nice breakfast and very kind people. Good price quality. Would definitely recommend this place. For us as Dutch citizens it was a nice plus that the host spoke Dutch.

Update to my review above: Due to our good previous experience we stayed the last night in Colombia also in this hotel. Before departure to the airport we asked the hotel to book a taxi for us which they said was not needed as there would be plenty available. However as we were ready to call a taxi, there were suddenly no taxi's available (because of rain) and there was a huge traffic jam. We urged them to arrange something as we didn't want to miss our plane. Suddenly the reception wasn't very helpfull and pretended to not speak (very well) english. Only an hour later there was a taxi available. We arrived only 20 minutes before departure on the airport. Miraceously we were still able to board the airplane due to the very friendly staff on the airport. Still would recommend this hotel due to the location and staff (except for the reception at our departure day), however keep in mind that you make reservation for your taxi to the...

First of all, the hotel should not be booked. Secondly, it is more like a hostel than a hotel. The hotel is located in a good area directly on a steep road that leads into the city. That was it with the advantages. PIG LOCATION: the hotel is a hotspot for numerous pigeons, i.e. noise from 0630. ROOMS: small, very cold, beds are of inferior quality. Extremely uncomfortable, small, not suitable for 2 people. Back pain guaranteed. BATHROOM also very small, shower curtain, little water pressure, at least hot water. All in all bad. LOUDNESS: You can hear not only the pigeons, but also all the other guests in the "hotel". In fact, every word that is spoken. Breakfast is taken right next to the room (outside). So also super noisy. Breakfast: you can choose when you check in what you want the next day and also when, again no hotel standard. The breakfast is mediocre. There is jam for 1/3 croissant, the croissant is not fresh. Last but not least, the coffee does not taste good, very watery and way too much milk. We then went out for breakfast.

NEGATIVE: - Room much too small and bathroom too small - Very cool and dark in the room - Bed is only 1.40m or max 1.50m wide (for 2 people) and very uncomfortable. I had back pain the next day (luckily was only for one night). - Rooms are directly in front of the courtyard where breakfast is served, so you hear noise directly in the morning. - No privacy because you can see from the courtyard into the rooms. - Pigeons directly in front of the room (noise from 6:30). Breakfast: - Croissants dry, jam is enough for half of a croissant. - In the coffee much too much milk - Juice was not fresh POSITIVE: - Scrambled eggs were delicious - Friendly reception - Location of the hotel (walking distance to the city) CONCLUSIONS: Cost 48€ a night including breakfast. I can not understand the good reviews. Yes, the reception and the staff is friendly but of this, the rooms and beds will be not larger or more comfortable and the breakfast not tasty.
