Oh. My. God. This is a worst 5 star hotel I ever stayed at and I’ve stayed at hundreds. First, the positive. Staff smiles. So that’s good. They will stiff and overcharge you, but with a smile! That only applies to entry level staff though. Here is my one night saga: I checked in ok. At the check in I was stiffed out of upgrade. Guess the management rather have rooms empty, but whatever. AC in the room did not work. I asked to change the room, and perhaps upgrade for inconvenience? Nope. 3 hrs in the hot room and I was finally moved to same room type with working AC. It was nice view of offices across (vs good view in previous room) and AC worked! I go to the bathroom and see something in the toilet that looks like rust. So I scratched it with my fingernail. It was not rust. Mind you, the room that was cleaned 10 min before. I decided not to involve hotel as not to wait another 2 hrs and just cleaned it myself. Disgusting. 5 star? Right. Oh hey, another positive - they brought a free cup of tea! Dinner was mediocre but acceptable. Breakfast was a bit better. Service at restaurant was good. My rate had breakfast included and $100 “property credit”. So you’d think that whatever is charged to the room is covered by “property credit”, right? Wrong. Imagine my surprise when at check out they have the nerve to tell me that breakfast is comped, but dinner is not, because it was apparently a buffet event and not order from menu, therefore nope you paaaaayyyyy. Never mind that it was the same restaurant as breakfast (that was taken off the bill). Minibar charges? Nope, not covered by property credit either. Did they tell you about any of this at check in? Nope. . Never mind involving manager. She was useless. Do they tell you this at check in? Nope. They do not print folio unless you ask for it hoping you don’t pay attention. I guess they’re instructed by GM to bait and switch and not give any concessions. She looked very natural at doing it. A lot of “im sorry you feel that way”, none “Youre right we failed”. Basically Like a hostel manager that just. Doenst. Give. A. Boop. Any common sense arguments didnt work. So I told manager that I disagree with charges and will dispute it with Amex. She didn’t like it at all.. She insisted that I put it in writing that I refuse to pay. Hmmm… I wonder if I did that, would police arrest me within 5 min for theft, given that there is a heavy police presence on the ground? So no, i insisted that I disagree with charges but will pay and have my credit card company make a determination. From prior experiences with Amex I feel that I won’t pay a dime for this stay and neither should I. Also, wifi is acceptable at times (8mbps) and sometimes downright unusable (0.2mbps). The service that I got was downright unacceptable. Oh, and dear GM who sometimes answers reviews here.. I do not care for your apologies. This is a systematic intentional anti customer nickel and dime overcharge strategy that you willingly pursue. Save your apologies. Use that time to research travelodge franchise. Its more fitting...
Read moreWe had the distinct pleasure of staying at the W Hotel Bogotá from October 14 to 16, marking our inaugural visit to South America. As first-time travelers to this vibrant continent, we approached our journey with a blend of excitement and caution, particularly regarding safety. Our goal was to immerse ourselves in the local culture while ensuring that our experience remained exceptional and secure.
From the outset, our interactions with the hotel were nothing short of remarkable. We reached out with several inquiries, and we were genuinely impressed by the promptness and precision of their responses. The leadership team at the W Hotel demonstrated a profound commitment to guest satisfaction, addressing our questions and concerns with both professionalism and empathy. Their attentiveness set a positive tone for our stay, alleviating any apprehensions we had about our safety and comfort.
Upon our arrival, the front desk staff welcomed us with warmth and enthusiasm, going above and beyond to ensure that we felt at home. Their exceptional service continued throughout our visit, as they consistently checked in to see if we needed anything, making us feel valued and cared for. The concierge service was equally impressive, providing insightful recommendations and assistance that enriched our experience in Bogotá.
One of the highlights of our stay was the time we spent at the hotel bar. The bartender was not only skilled in crafting delightful drinks but also a joy to converse with. Our chats added a personal touch to our evenings, making us feel like part of the W Hotel family. This sense of community and connection was a testament to the hotel’s commitment to creating memorable experiences for its guests.
The leadership at the W Hotel was notably accessible and attentive. They made it a point to meet with us on our departure day, which further underscored their dedication to guest relations. This level of engagement left a lasting impression on us, as it is rare to encounter such genuine care and availability in the hospitality industry.
As our stay came to an end, we made the decision to change hotels, as it was part of our travel plan to explore a different location in Bogotá. However, we found ourselves regretting this choice, primarily because we missed the outstanding service and warm atmosphere that the W Hotel Bogotá team had provided. The exceptional quality of service we experienced there set a high standard that was difficult to match elsewhere.
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend the W Hotel Bogotá to anyone seeking a remarkable stay in this beautiful city. The combination of attentive leadership, exceptional service, and a welcoming atmosphere made our first experience in South America truly unforgettable. We left with cherished memories and a deep appreciation for the hospitality we received, and we look forward to returning...
Read moreArrived at 2 AM and was greeted cordially, checked-in fast and efficiently. Went up 2 different elevators, both very dark and arrived at an also dark hallway. The hotel is reminiscent of a night club, not very safe for us older folk. Room was not setup for night time although I had advised the hotel I would be arriving at that time. At first sight the room looks impressive, but in practice the design is very impractical. Light switches are individualized and scattered, so that it took a while to light up the room. Cluttered night stands, I couldn´t find a suitable space on the night stand for my CPAP machine; usually I just set it inside an open drawer, but there are none here. On one side sat a huge lamp, some water and glasses, I started to move them to make room, but then noticed the was no electrical outlet on that side. Decided on the cluttered side and ended up unplugging the clock, moving aside the phone and a small bin with paper and pen. Went to wash up before bed and got splashed by water from the shallow wash basin. I closed the curtains as best I could so I could sleep late, but there is no way to seal the light out completely. The pillows seemed a little too thick for my taste, but were comfortable nonetheless and I found the mattress to be just perfect for me. I was so tired I fell asleep almost immediately. 4 hours later I was awoken by light coming into the room and mechanical noises, probably from piping. Made some coffee and thought the coffee pod machine had not been properly cleaned so I washed the pod holder before use, getting myself splashed in the process. The supplied coffee pods were great, but there were no trash bins near the refreshments table and ended up using the paper basket by the desk. I thought the shower stall was nice until soap made the floor very slippery and there is no safety rail. For the second night I used an eye mask and ear plugs, both supplied by the hotel, and slept for 10 hours, which says a lot about the comfort level of the mattress and pillows. The staff provided excellent service and everyone was cordial and very helpful, all one has to do is ask. Also visited their restaurant twice, they try and mean well, but I really can’t recommend it. Service was a bit slow even though there very few diners at the time and food in general was just ok. Returned one of my plates because I thought part of the food was salty and they handled the problem well, but still, this sort of thing shouldn´t happen. Again, the staff is the hotel’s best asset, from the concierges to the cleaning ladies. The hotel would probably be a good place for a young couple to visit as a romantic retreat, but I don´t recommend it for...
