Located just a short walk from both the beach at some beautiful churches, this property is perfectly located. The staff is friendly, but seem to be limited by their management. We booked this property because of the location, the pictures of the rooms, and the included breakfast. Only one of those reasons were confirmed to be worth the money.
The room has a lovely king-size bed, with springs that poke you all night while you are trying to rest. The furniture in the room was dirty and very worn. The pictures didn't seem to very accurately reflect the state of the rooms TODAY.
In the breakfast area, there are the remnants of a coffee shop on display as well as a giant black net covering the kitchen area. It looks terrible.
Breakfast was a disaster. I was ignored when I came down and had to address the staff (that was sitting on the ground by reception) before I was helped. Options were limited, but this is to be expected in Colombia. Your typical varieties of egg, toast, juice, and coffee. What blew me away was the fact that they had no condiments. No ketchup, no hot sauce, and no salt/pepper. They brought me some salt/pepper on a plate from the kitchen. I was told that these luxuries are coming tomorrow and all I kept thinking about is why don't you run out and go buy some from the tienda??? When I was done, the staff walked back and forth past my table for 10+ minutes before asking to remove the dirty dishes as I was trying to work around them.
Overall, not too happy, I live in Colombia and have stayed in many hotels in both Cartagena and other cities, never have I been this disappointed.
Edit: After a full day of walking around and just wanting to relax in our room, the key (a physical one) no longer works. We informed the staff only to get eyes rolled at us when expressing frustration. Now, an hour later, we have still not been able to access our room. Downgrading from...

Read moreI love local Colonial hotels but they need to be clean and well run to make the experience worthwhile. This isn't. In Santa Marta I had an amazing stay in a similar style hotel but the staff made it and the place was spotless. When I go to a hotel and one of the 2 screw holding the toilet seat in place is gone and its half hanging off I know that won't be the only issues. The fan didn't work, then when he got it working the AC stopped. Potentially a gorgeous place good location but zero care, zero maintenance and here's the kicker the coffee is awful, I mean come on no excuse for this in Colombia. I was on the fence as there was a 4 star for less money in Boca Grande, I stayed there the following night and oh boy was it good!! Breakfast VERY average better to go out lots of...
