This Hotel is a definitely a pretty nice place to stay for a couple of days in the city center. It´s just some minutes of walking towards the city center. A nice calm, safe neighbourhood.
Pool, reception and rooms look good, clean and modern. Wifi is available, but not very fast. Breakfast is fresh and tastes good, but served in very poor portions. Seriously you get about 3 mouth-pieces of watermelon, 2 toasts and a little bit of egg, there is room for improvement.
All in All I would give 4/5 stars, not the cheapest, but worth the money. One thing that bothered me though was the owner.
From on the beginning he accused us not following the house rules ( like leaving the keys at the reception, what is a pretty rare rule for a hotel anyway ), which he never explained properly, one day our room door was left open by the maintenance staff, anybody could have robbed our cards and passports (safe wasn´t explained as well ). In the end he accused us having used a special creme at night which damaged the pillows and wanted us to give him a sample to make a test. Actually this "creme"was simple hair wax, that nobody even used at night. Having to wash the pillows afterwards should be a normal thing to do for a hotel anyway.
Just some examples of the behavior of that strange, a little arrogant and unprofessional guy. Therefore I give 3/5 stars cause the Hotel itself remains a good...
Read moreLike everywhere in Cartagena we felt that this place was overpriced for what it is. The facilities are very simple although more or less functional (we couldn’t get WiFi on the roof terrace) The rooms are clean, spacious and tidied daily. They include a mini fridge and air con. We had plenty of hot water. In terms of sustainability they could stop taking away almost unused soaps and shampoos every day only to replace them with fresh ones. This feels wasteful. Towels don’t need changing daily either. Location is very good, just off plaza Trinidad. This does mean you hear a lot of noise from the street parties all night long but we didn’t mind and enjoyed the life in the area. The swimming pool is clean and nice to use after walking around in the heat of the city. However when the hotel is full there is limited space to relax around it. The sun loungers are on the roof terrace and we didn’t like using this as it was the smoking area and lots of people smoked. The hammocks by the pool got taken down every afternoon which was a bit strange… Unfortunately drinking water is not included and has to be bought as an extra. From travelling in the region this is unusual, especially given the price of the hotel. They should reconsider this… Overall not a bad choice in a good location. Just don’t expect...
Read moreThe location is great: in the heart of the Getsemani district and 7-8mn walking distance from the historic center of Carthagene. The place also is a very charming colonial house, with a swimming pool and a nice terrace. Having said that, the Calle del Poso in which the hotel is located is very very noisy and the room is not soundproof at all. Besides, my room was located at the lobby next to the swimming pool and the breakfast room, and you can hear everything. So in those conditions, it is very challenging to have a quiet and relaxing sleep. Furthermore, the wifi of the hotel was very unstable and it was difficult to surf correctly. The cleanliness of the bed sheet was questionable as there were some yellow spots on it! The front desk staff was nice but not very helpful. Example: I asked for information about how to go to another city. The lady gave me some approximative info (which was by the way partly false) and I had to do my own research (which was a little bit difficult since my spanish is poor). A professional staff would have looked into the bus company's web site and would have given the client accurate and appropriate info. Overall not good value for money. I...
