The rooms are a little smaller than usual but it does have everything you need. The service is acceptable, there is one doorman, the one that is displayed in the promotioanl pictures that does go above and beyond. The breakfast included is really good and has a good variety. The location is the best, you are truly at the center of boca grande, there is a bunch of stores and restaurants walking distance. You are also 5 minutes walking from the main beach, even though i do not recommend that beach beacuse is has too many vendors and you can't actually enjoy yourself. You are also just like 12 min away by a taxi from Ciudad Amuralla which is the old town part of cartagena.
My only big complain is that I was literally given the whole worse room of the entire hotel. My room was the first room in the second floor and it is right next to the cleaning lady office and laundry room. You could hear all the time her phone being played out loud and her conversations during the day. Furthermore, for some reason the second floor hallway has like a little balcony which gives you full access to the main lobby. At 11pm I could hear the 3 employees at the lobby literally laughing extremely loud and using their phones, watching videos to the highest volume. The front desk agent, the night shift doorman and some other guy where the ones in the lobby actually making all that noise. It wasnt even guests. I went down at some point during the night since I could not fall as sleep due to their noises and asked if they could change me to any other room. The front desk agent called the owner supposdly and they said since they did not have any housekeeper at the time working that there was no other room available that they could offer me at that time. I understand that if there is no room, that is not something in the control of the front desk agent; however, I mentioned to her how loud they were being and she was basically dismissive. I would assumed that after my complained they would at least stop playing their phones so loud and laughing so hard. They did not stop, continue like that the whole. It was pretty hard to sleep with their. So in summary just make sure they do not assign you the second floor room.
I expected an apology or something complementary but none of those things were offered. Like I said, the hotel itself is not actually bad, the service is just meh and the second floor is...
Read moreStayed as a couple at the OZ Luxury Hotel March 15-29th and it was perfect for us. We took an Uber from the airport to the hotel which was 25,000 COP. The building has 9 floors. The 1st floor is the reception/dining area and the 9th is a roof top patio. Our room was on the 5th floor (the higher floors are warmer) and we had two windows, one in the room and one in the bathroom. It’s not the best view, which was fine as we were out most of the day anyway. ||The room is small but it was cozy. We only brought our carry on luggage and were able to store it in the closet with ample room to spare. We could have used some extra hangers or drawers but it was not difficult to manage. The safe, fridge, and a/c functioned very well. The TV didn’t have any English channels but we were able to log into our Netflix account. The only negative is the paper thin walls, the street noise and noise from the hallway made it difficult to sleep but that’s not something the hotel can control.||Breakfast was AMAZING. Given how expensive the meals in the area are we were grateful for the daily breakfast buffet. You can have eggs made to order. The juices are made from real fruit. There was a variety of empanadas, cheese and deli meats and other fried food options along with pancakes, veggies and soup. And the fresh fruit options were fantastic.||The location was also ideal for us. We were 2 minutes walking distance from the beach and I don’t understand the reviews, it’s a great beach!!! The vendors come by often but they are so thankful for us visiting Colombia! We simply said no thanks and they happily moved along. We did not rent beach chairs or umbrellas instead opted to bring beach towels (provided by the hotel) and our own drinks. We did not have any issues leaving our belongings on our towels on the beach while we went for a swim. We felt very safe and comfortable throughout our time here. Also, there is Dollar City across the street. And a Mega grocery store a block away where we had very affordable lunch in the upstairs dining area most days.||The hotel is very comfortable and the staff are so kind! A big shout out to John and Alex. They were always so helpful and accommodating given our limited Spanish. I was second guessing if we should have booked a hotel in the Walled City but glad we chose this due to its close proximity...
Read moreDear travelers, i'm an easy going guy and usually give a 5 out 5 wherever I go. Something I cant tolerate is being dishonest and unfair to the very those who keep them up and running. This place is ran by liars and greedy people. The reason i'm giving a poor review is because of the following story, please bear with me for a moment. I booked a night for Dec 29 and upon check-in It turned out the booking was made for Mar 29, yes I did an innocent mistake and shared with them this info and asked them to consider the already-paid reservation. They told me to book the night apart (almost twice the price) and to contact the reservation office and they would take it into account later. They assured me this would be taken cared of even after asking the reception multiple times. Probably assuming I'd forget about the whole thing. After 3 days of multiple emails they denied the possibility of a refund and didn't offer any logical solution. They could have just asked me for the diff while paying on arrival, pretty logical especially for a so called "Luxury" establishment. But no, they lied, multiple times waiting for me to leave the property assuming id be long gone and wouldn't address the issue anymore.
Apart from that, very basic hotel, service is mediocre small rooms and liars as described above. Avoid at all cost, Airbnbs in CTG are much better...
