I'm vegetarian and ordered the pasta fungus - which is a vegetarian dish in the menu. In the dish there is spaghetti pasta and mushrooms and white sauce. First time I got the plate I saw bacon pieces and told them I'm vegetarian and it's not part of the dish. I waited for a new preparation of it wich took about 10-15 minutes while everyone else in the table already started to eat. Second time I was already hesitant about eating but since the place has good reviews I decided to give it a fair chance when suddenly I saw another piece of bacon in the new plate the kitchen made. Safe to say I don't recommend coming here especially if you like to get your dishes as written in the menu. also not only I'm vegetarian but by religioun I'm not allowed to eat meat and cheese after explaining this to the manager shakingly i was asked by the manager if I told the waiter about it. As if when ordering a vegetarian dish that has no meat in it I should still expect meat if I didn't tell the waiter abut the problem I have with having meat in a non meat dish. Overall they apologized and of course it was the kitchen that messed up but extremely unprofessional and for it to happen twice is...
Read moreHonestly, what an absolutely great surprise. I was expecting very little but it's one of the best Italian restaurants in Cartagena bang bot buck. I risked it all and got the crunchy octopus and although not perfect it was tasty an well cooked. The beef carpaccio had good meet but great balsamic and parmesean. The tartufo pasta was brilliant with genuine parmesean scooped out of a cheese wheel the size of a baby's cradle. Price was absolutely surreal, just way under anything else in the city. Service by Ovidio was great, if lacking only in protocol but then again that's not what you expect. He was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and passionate about his work. The wine list was sorely lacking, albeit fairly priced, and the ambience as well as the overall presentation doesn't do the food justice. If you're in the mood for Italian and getting great value for your money, don't...
Read moreThis place really stood out to us as having some of the best, fastest service during our trip to Cartagena. In general, the people of Cartagena seem to move at a slower pace, I guess you might say it's like "island time", so we got used to having to wait everywhere we went. But at La Fontana, the service was super fast and our food came out in a matter of minutes. It was the middle of the afternoon so not as busy, but still it was impressive. Also, our food was very good. I got the Pasta Bolognesa with zucchini "noodles" instead of pasta (they had cut the zucchini into long strips so it looked like spaghetti). The bolognese sauce was very flavorful. My wife got the Proscuitto y Rúgula Pizza and said it had a good, thin and...
