It was nice to read a couple of good reviews beforehand because this place impressed me so much that I have returned here for a second time for an entire month again!! Previously, I had a lot of confrontations, from the haters club, who completely trashed out this place for no just reason in their reviews. Therefore, the hotel Toledo tripadvisor overall rating is not close to being accurate for several reasons.||First of all, this is one of the best locations in Cartagena. For example, there are a couple of 5 star luxury hotels that cost 8-10 times the rate of this place. These critics are too tight to pay to stay there, too tight to tip the hotel Toledo employees, but still expect a 5 star scenario in the meantime?? The beach is just one city block away, there are awesome restaurants and various social venues within a block or two the other directions, a large supermarket, and the area is very safe with no threats of crime whatsoever. ||Concerning, the person that complained about the pool being too hot, very few hotels even have pools at all at this hotel rate. Cartagena is a hot climate year round, the ocean water is always warm, so why wouldn't the pool be warm, as well?!||The hotel has a lot of history here and has traditional Columbian culture and style to it, which makes it unique, not horrible. The building is very old, but they work very hard to keep everything very clean||They have a very good restaurant called "Harvey's", which has large portions of food at reasonable prices. My favorite dish is the chicken and rice plate!|| They have every possible type of room options at all different rates. This is a very popular place with the Columbian locals, who come here from all over the country. They actually have large rooms that are full of beds for lower income groups and families to make sure everyone has an opportunity to come here at all social levels. They do not have any elevators so if you are a handicapped or disabled guest they put you on the first floor. please let them know ahead of time.||Another big issue with the hater club is that it is too loud here. This would resemble staying on bourbon street and want a quiet, tranquil room. Cartagena has a Marti Gras type culture and atmosphere, so tourist should know what they are getting into before they decide to stay in this district. Anytime I have a noise issue, i just play some light music in the background, which eliminates this issue.||All of the employees here do a great job, are very friendly and, as I have stated before. kindness and tipping goes a long way. For example, the first time that I came here I had the trip for hell with various flight delays and cancellations and never got there until 3 am and was suppose to arrive at 6pm. (arrived 9 hours later that expected) The front desk person said that he could tell that I was tired and stressed out and told me to just pay for everything in the morning, which is unheard of in these days and times! They do have a bi-lingual staff, if you do not speak spanish and laundry service...
Read moreI am completely shocked with all of the negative feedback about this hotel for its price and excellent location! ? I am sure some of these critics are use to the Americanized all exclusive setting, which this place is not! You are right across the street from the beach, your have the best places to party next door, a grocery store around the corner. The tour director has all kinds of places to see and different tour venues, where they come to the hotel front door to pick you and return you!||The Hotel receptionist gave me an immediate upgrade because they did not have the room that I requested. Then he told me that since I had been so friendly with the staff I could go ahead and stay in the same room for the entire 3 week stay. There is a luxury hotel across the street and they charge 5 times the rate of this hotel, nor do I spend much time in my hotel room anyway!||These people are very poor and even the smallest tip goes along way towards service and is appreciated. My room was always very clean, which was a load because you bring in sand constantly! My maids were super good looking, very friendly. There was one day where the AC was not working, which is not bad for as long as I was there! We are staying in the middle of e cities best partying zone, so yes there is going to be noise. I showed up late all the time for the breakfast cut off period and the cooks went ahead and gave me something anyway. The food was not luxurious, but hit the spot if you had been partying all night. The female cook was younger version of Demi Moore look in looks! TV remote went out and they were up to my room with another one in minutes. Every single staff member made it a point to say good bye before I was to leave to go home!||My biggest downside of my stay here was that the locals would not leave you alone and always wanted to sell you something. I talked to the hotel staff about keeping the vendors off of the property and quit bothering the tourist. The hotel stated that if they ran off the locals they would vandalize the property, which had happened in other smaller hotels.||This Hotel has an agreement with the 5 star hotel across the street to use there awesome...
Read moreThis is the 3 rd time that I have came here for 4'-5 week stays and am still impressed with the entire operation here and value for your money! They have the best hotel manager ever, named Carolina!||First of all, you can not beat the location and cheap rates for what this place has to offer!||Hotel Toledo is located in best section of the bocagrande district. The oceanside beach is just one city block away! There is also a beach and prominade just a few blocks in the other direction. This beach is not very busy, so you can get some private time. The prominade involves a very long scenic sidewalk and benches that goes across the bay area. It is great for jogging, walking, photos and getting romantic! You have great social venues, ATMs ,and restaurants nearby, plus a large grocery store 1 block away, casino, cinema, shopping plazas...ect! The Hotel itself is an older spanish style building, that has a pool, good restaurant, bar, laundry service souvenir shop, money exchange booth and tourist info. booth! There is a complimentary breakfast available, free storage, and they have really improved their Wi Fi service, as well. There are all types of rooms at all price levels, ranging from dorms to suites, so there is something available for everyone. The employees are really awesome here and I consider them to be more like family, instead of hotel workers. There no elevators here, so if you are elderly or need special assistance, please mention this with your reservation and they will put you on the ground level The have security on site, I never see them doing anything, so it must be a safe atmosphere,,,I have never had any problems or even witnessed any safety issues here at all. I still can not get over those reviewers, who complain about everything, like they are staying at a luxury 5 star resort. The low cost speaks for itself because they would pay 10 times the rates at a luxory hotel, across the street. Almost all of the hotels at this rate in Cartagena do not even have a pool or free breakfast available! Cartagena has a very hot climate year around, so why wouldnt the pool be a little warm, in...
