Absolutely loved this hotel. Its basically how I would design one! So many beautiful plants and natural materials. It's stunning! The location is perfect, walking distance to many nice restaurants and bars. But far away enough from the noise! Staff are very helpful and friendly. The room was great, again, designed beautifully. It was an ok size room but the space was used well. There is a mobile phone that you can operate your TV with, the lights, the curtains, aswell as ordering room service or asking them to find out prices for tours. The lights was pretty complicated to begin with 😂 but we figured it out! The rooftop bar is great, lovely drinks, nice space.. And there is a hot large jacuzzi. The cooked breakfast that was included is good, great veggie options. Though one thing which needs improving is the consistency of the breakfasts. Sometimes we would be offered juice, other days not, sometimes we would get a basket of bread and pastries, sometimes not, unless we asked. And the cooked breakfasts you can choose from were very inconsistent. One day we had perfectly cooked poached eggs, and everything else was cooked nicely. And then other days the eggs were barely edible, very watery. I've still rated the hotel 5 stars as its a small detail, that just needs improving. But everything else is just the best! Would absolutely stay again if we were ever back in Medellin ❤️

Booked last minute, the 23 Hotel was in an ideal location close to El Poblado with all the bars, restaurants and cafes. It was also far enough away to make it a fairly quiet stay too. The rooms are contemporary, some are showing signs of wear and tear with chunks out of the concrete, probably from being bashed by suitcases. However the design is very Scandinavian-inspired making them simple but cosy. The best part is the huge porthole window, surprisingly comfy to sit in and watch the world go by from your beautiful air-conditioned room. I wasn't a huge fan of the roof space with the large hot tub, there were only two sun loungers and the rest were seats for the bar. Sadly didn't spend any time here, which was a shame but it didn't feel very comfortable. Breakfast was lovely, one day I had one of the best breakfasts I've ever had anywhere, then sadly the next day my choice wasn't to my taste but the food is of good quality. We also ordered room service one evening and the pizzas were really lovely and good value. Overall we had a good stay, we did have to change rooms due to them emptying the hot tub at 7am which subsequently made our toilet sound like it was backing up and woke us up. However, eventually the hotel staff were accommodating in moving us, which made the difference. Highly recommend a stay here for central Medellin.

I am at the hotel now - it is so, so beautiful indeed but I have not had a good customer service experience so far. If you don’t speak Spanish, you’re going to have a very difficult time. Very few staff members speak English and even the menus are only in Spanish. I couldn’t get directions anywhere, even to where I could buy water. Even when I showed a map and pointed. And I can’t reach reception via their high tech system via chat or phone just to get the WiFi password. If they are going to rely solely on a little phone for all room features etc, and have a chat option for guest services, it should be attended. And obviously reception/front desk shouldn’t keep their ringer off (I was eventually told that’s why they didn’t answer). Lastly, the room is tiny. It’s one thing to be stylish, but functionality and service are important too. On the plus side, it’s quiet and a great location (a couple blocks from main tourist area - quiet but close). Great restaurant and rooftop area too. The man who helped me when I checked in - bringing my bags up and showing me the room - was very nice and helpful and spoke great English.

This is going to be more about the value for the cost than anything else. The hotel wasn’t bad by any means but for the price I was expecting more.

Location It’s a good location if you want to be close to all the popular things in this area without being right in the middle. It’s a quick walk to where you need to be but removed from the noise and business. However if you want to be able to exit your hotel and have a ton of options or want to go somewhere on the other side of this area, there are better options.

Rooms For reference I booked a junior suite. The facilities were nice. I wish there were more places in the bathroom to place things. That’s minor but worth mentioning because if you have multiple people in the room I think it would be noticeable. Also it’s hard to get it completely dark with the light that comes from the bathroom as there aren’t blackout curtains in the bathroom. But my biggest problem is there was an issue with my light the first night where one of them wouldn’t turn off. I contacted the staff and they came and looked at it and said it couldn’t be fixed until the morning and that my options were to sleep with it on or take my card out of the slot that controlled the electricity which means I wouldn’t have access to lights, curtains, or AC throughout the night/into the morning without getting up and replacing the card (e.g. if I wanted to use the restroom in the night I’d have to use a flashlight to get the front door, replace the card so I could have light, go to the bathroom, go back and get the card, get back in bed). Again, my option was that, or sleep with a light in the bedroom on. Honestly if I wanted options like that I would’ve stayed at a hostel not a boutique hotel. Which leads me to the next part..

Service One of the reasons I book higher end hotels is for high end service which I did not receive during my stay. Not only were they not able to give me any real solution that evening, the next day I followed up 3 times before someone replied to tell me if it had been fixed (which it had). Additionally I was told there would be accommodation for the extreme inconvenience it caused. When I reminded them of that all I received was a “sorry for the inconvenience”. When I asked if that’s the only resolution they’d be offering, I received no reply. And I still haven’t multiple days later. I included this information in the follow up survey and they said a manager would be in touch. The manager, John, never reached out. I followed up through email stating I hadn’t heard from John and no one has replied to that correspondence either. As I mentioned before, I’d I wanted this level (or rather lack there of) of customer service I would’ve booked someplace much much cheaper.

I also had issues prior to the stay regarding hotel transfer (TL;DR don’t book it through the hotel, it’s not easier than getting an Uber) that I won’t detail here as the post is already long but it was more of the same if having to follow up multiple times with no resolution or support from staff.

Overall I’m incredibly disappointed and regret the money I spent to stay here. I moved to a different hotel in the city and had a much better stay. There are better options for the price in Medellin...

My recent stay at Hotel 23 in Medellin was unfortunately riddled with numerous issues that detracted significantly from what could have been a pleasant experience.

Shower Water Pressure: The water pressure in the shower was disappointingly low, making for a less than refreshing start to the day.

Lack of Pool: Despite expectations, the hotel only offers a rooftop jacuzzi instead of a pool, which was a letdown.

Rooftop Bar Experience: While the drinks at the rooftop bar were enjoyable, the bartender's demeanor was distant and unwelcoming, failing to create a friendly atmosphere.

Reception Service: The reception staff appeared overwhelmed and were notably lacking in hospitality, with minimal smiles or welcoming gestures.

Breakfast Service: Breakfast service was remarkably slow, taking between 40 to 50 minutes to receive orders. The quality of the food, such as the salmon bagel, was also underwhelming.

Towel Request: When requesting additional towels, the front desk's response was unexpectedly curt, questioning the need for extra towels rather than addressing the request politely.

Building Aesthetics: On a positive note, the hotel's architecture is commendable, boasting a beautiful and clean design that enhances the overall ambiance.

Unexpected Charges: The checkout process revealed an additional charge for toothpaste, which seemed excessive for a hotel of this caliber.

Overall, while Hotel 23 boasts an attractive physical appearance and good drink options at the rooftop bar, the service quality across various departments fell short of expectations. Issues ranged from poor water pressure in the showers to indifferent staff interactions and unexpectedly long wait times for breakfast. Despite a brief interaction with the manager at checkout, the apologies offered did little to mitigate the frustrations encountered throughout my stay.

In conclusion, Hotel 23 has potential, but improvements in service delivery and guest experience are crucial to justify its reputation as one of Medellin's finest accommodations.

My 2 star is because of the 5 star Design of...

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. SAVE YOUR MONEY! My finance and I had our wedding in Medellin and our guests complete sold out the entire hotel. We were made promises by the hotel management regarding comfortably accommodating our guests, and 23 Hotel severely underperformed. The hotel runs entirely on remote controlled technology, with a remote in each room hat connects via wifi. This is the ONLY control, there is no manual override. For the entire stay, from Thursday - Sunday, the wifi network was down and the remotes were unable to function whatsoever. This caused the hotel system to crash, meaning they were unable issue additional room keys, unable to accept payment for food/beverages using credit card, guests were unable to control the a/c in their rooms, guests could not turn on/off the lights, guests could not open/close the curtains. It was a DISASTER, but we were promised (multiple times) by the 23 Hotel management that they would do right by all of our guests. This was the same thing that they told us, and each guest, during the checkout process. However, after more than 1 month and countless email follow ups sent direct to the 23 Hotel Manager, 23 Hotel was completely and fully unresponsive. This lack of accountability is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. When they finally did reach out to us, after denying that we attempted to contact them over the past month, we were first offered between $90-$100 USD refund per room (for reservations that guests were charged between $600 -$1000+ USD, no less) and/or a complementary night the next time we visit them (which will be never). After rejecting that offer and explaining that we were promised they would rectify the situation, we were told that "there was nothing more that 23 Hotel could do".

This is unprofessional and embarrassing behavior from a "5-star hotel" that claims to pride itself of its guests and customer satisfaction. I would not recommend that anyone stay at this hotel, much less consider hosting any type of event there. You will certainly regret it, no matter what lies and empty promises are made to you by the members of this...
