Hotel Puerto Pelicano | Hotel Colonial — Hotel in Santa Marta

This is a new management of this lovely hotel, and it appears they are doing some wonderful upgrades - plants everywhere, the color scheme is beautiful, and the multi tiered roof deck with oversized jacuzzi / pool is amazing - hammocks are a plus! The location - it is just a few meters off of a busy walking area of the historic district so a few steps away and you are in the main entertainment area, but those few steps provide relief from the music in the main area. The staff are amazing - Mario, the owner you can talk to for hours, or take him up on a diving course. Juliana on of the front desk attendants is about the kindest person I have come across on my seven week journey through the country. They are a wealth of info such as a less known entrance into Tayrona - less tourists, more wild life, busses, prime restaurants or salsa clubs. The important part is that staying here I quickly felt part of a family of friends rather than just a well put together hotel. My sitting sipping morning coffee, and eating fresh fruit while chatting with staff and fellow travelers has been a wonderful and unexpected way to end a fabulous vacation. 5 plus stars for a great experience with...

Great place with very friendly, professional, and attentive staff. Felt comfortable before I even walked in the door as the lobby view from the street is pleasant and open.
