This was hands down our favorite stay during our recent trip to Costa Rica. Wow! I found Lidia's on a booking platform and then via her website. I booked directly via email through her and her English-speaking daughter, Sofia. This saved money, and everything was seamless! What a great value! The view is better than the photos I saw and captured myself. We also had cariblanca monkeys visit our first morning - what an experience! The lodging is very nice, but it is a more traditional Tico home, so it did not feel like a basic U.S. hotel. We loved it and found it to be perfect for a family with a child or children (we were traveling with an infant). The kitchen worked well for our needs, and we cooked several meals here. The hill just outside is steep, but we made it with a full car (Toyota Yaris rental). The area feels safe and integrated into the local neighborhood. While we found it helpful to have a car, I don't think it's fully necessary as there are many tours that pick you up and you could walk to restaurants and grocery stores. I would just be careful walking at night with limited lighting (more of a concern for cars on the road than any fear of crime). Best of all were Lidia and Sofia - what amazing hosts! We were greeted with fresh fruits, coffee, and batidos (natural fruit drinks) every day. If you speak Spanish (even a little), Lidia will share some great stories about the wildlife in the area and about her history of hosting guests. She is a gem! Sofia was also very sweet and showed us how to work the shower and ensured we were very comfortable. I absolutely love that people like these two hosts visitors - this is what airbnb used to be, and now it feels rare to be welcomed into a home in this way. Lidia's Mountain View was more than a wonderful place to stay, but truly an experience and a chance to make new friends. I absolutely hope to return one day. Also, the playground is very cute and would be great...

The view is breathtaking, you can literally see the clouds envelop the mountains in the afternoons. Fresh mixed fruit platter everyday? Yes, please! Lidia and Sofia were arguably the best hosts we've ever had. They went above and beyond: they provided us a tour of the home when we got in, made sure we knew how to use the stove, explained the bathroom/shower, offered and came to clean mid-stay, and provided us with great recommendations in Monteverde. Sofia even made reservations for us. The kids loved both of them. Fantastic! Thank you so much for making our stay in Monteverde an...
Read moreWe spent three nights there and had a great experience. The family that runs it is very nice and helpful. They brought fresh fruit every morning, and took care of our few minor issues quickly. One morning they came over to tell us that there was a family of monkeys outside and gave us fruit to feed them.
My only small complaint is the price of laundry. They charge $7 per kilo for laundry service while others in the area charge between $4.50-$6 per kilo. If you want the convenience of having it done there, then you pay for that convenience. A place three minutes away down the street does laundry...
