Bifora luxury manor Hvar — Hotel in Grad Hvar

Our stay at this Airbnb was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had as a traveler. The host was incredibly rude and completely unfit to be hosting guests. It seems that the only reason this property has decent reviews is because the host threatens to blackmail guests who leave negative feedback. This behavior is highly unprofessional, and I sincerely hope Airbnb revokes her hosting privileges soon. To clarify, the host’s actions do not reflect the warm hospitality of the Croatian people, who were otherwise incredibly kind and welcoming during my visit. The host is not Croatian. Some of the unacceptable incidents included the host showing up an hour before checkout, rudely demanding that we leave early, and making baseless accusations about an extra towel in the property. She even insisted we take the towel with us, which was bizarre considering there was a whole stack of the exact kind of towel by the front door downstairs. Her behavior was erratic and unsettling. Two weeks after checkout, the host began sending random requests for additional money through Airbnb with no legitimate reason. On top of that, despite us cleaning the property thoroughly as outlined in the checkout instructions, she falsely accused us of leaving it dirty. I strongly advise against booking this property. Invasive, Hostile, and Deeply Unprofessional

Despite the clearly agreed-upon checkout time, the cleaning crew arranged by the host barged into the property nearly an hour early on the morning or our check-out aggressively insisting we leave. No notice, no courtesy.

Things only got more bizarre from there. The owner arrived shortly after, falsely accusing us of having extra guests simply because there was one additional towel in the apartment — a towel that she then insisted we take with us (There was an entire stack of identical towels by the front door, btw). The accusation was bizarre and baseless and made absolutely no sense. She also attempted to blackmail us upon departure, making it clear that if we left a negative review, she would retaliate.

Following the stay, the host continued to reach out with false claims that we had left the property dirty — even though we had followed her cleaning instructions to the letter (and then some) along with requests for additional payments.

If you're planning a trip to Croatia, do yourself a favor and avoid this property entirely. Support local Croatian hosts who reflect the genuine kindness and generosity of the country — and don’t risk subjecting yourself to the kind of hostility and harassment we experienced here. You...

Unfortunately, our stay was marred by numerous issues stemming from the host’s behavior, which felt aggressive, unwelcoming, and unprofessional.

Despite our agreed-upon checkout time, the cleaning crew and host showed up nearly an hour early, insisting we leave immediately with no prior communication. The host also made unfounded accusations regarding additional guests—citing one extra towel as her basis, despite a visible stack of the same towels by the entrance.

After our departure, we received unsolicited and incorrect claims that we’d left the place messy—even though we followed all cleaning instructions precisely. We were also contacted days after the trip with unexpected payment requests through the platform that had no valid explanation.

While the property met our needs, the confrontational tone and lack of respect throughout our stay made it a very uncomfortable experience. Based on what we went through, I would advise future travelers to consider other accommodations that better reflect the warmth and hospitality Croatia...
