It may look like your average konoba, but Konoba Bunar is anything but!
I wandered in with couple of friends on a Tuesday night, and was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and incredible aroma of Mediterranean food. The restaurant was filling up quickly (it was almost 7:00 pm) but we managed to snag a table.
First in the line was the soup with carrot, orange and cream. Twisted combination but in reallity, something out of this world. It stunned us all, it was something totally new.
We ordered the appetizer plate to share: great mix of wonderful local made prosciutto and cheese, combined with fresh tomato, corn salad, basil sauce and capparis. It was divine, perfect portion to wake up our gastronomic spirit. At that moment we knew we can expect anything but boring, ordinary dinner.
The rest of our dinner was the bomb. Truffle pasta, al dente, so delicious with silky aroma of truffles. Seafood pasta (oh boy, that experience!) with fresh seashells and prawns. You can taste the spirit of sea from this delicious plate. And the meat plate with vegetables and chips. Beef and lamb grilled to the perfection, full of flavour and tenderness, soft and juicy. Everything was so delicious, so tender, so fresh and tasty. It makes me drool again, days after the dinner.
Also, we ordered the drinks. House wine and the Bunar beer, both perfect.
The staff was great. Our waiter Pero was nearby all the time, at the table the second we needed him. Joyful but unobtrusive. At one moment, we heard the chef singing along the song from the kitchen. All of us burst into laughter, it was so intensively relaxed and cute, feeling like being home.
Concerning all the experience we had, great food taste and quality, admirable portion sizes, very nice drinks and general domestic mood, I can't do anything else but recommend Konoba Bunar...
Read moreKonoba Bunar has great service and food is not bad — I went early with my friend and they very kindly squeezed us in without a reservation. Service was amazing throughout the entire meal, everything was well explained and thoughtful. We had a minor inconvenience having to switch tables after getting the free pesto and bread, but they offered us free dessert to compensate —the homemade cheesecake, which, was delicious. However, the rest of our food was not as delicious as I would believe from previous google reviews—it was not bad, but not worth it for the price and by far not the best food I’ve had in Hvar. I ordered the tuna rare and my friend ordered the lamb chops medium, and the tuna was too well done while the lamb chops were underdone. Both were also not as flavorful as I expected given previous reviews. To be fair, they were dealing with a large party at the time so that may have influenced the quality of the food. However, at the end of the meal, the owner came over and asked for us to write a good review. He also watched over her shoulder while my friend wrote one. This leads me to believe there may be review inflation occurring so I wouldn’t necessarily believe all of these 5 stars!! Nonetheless great service and nice ambiance, but I personally wouldn’t return or recommend it based on...

This is the best restaurant in Hvar, hands down, and top 3 restaurants in Croatia (Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Cavtat, Zadar and Split). The service is amazing, and the food is out of this world.
From the moment we arrived, our waiter was very attentive and professional. He brought us complimentary bread and homemade pesto (DELICIOUS), which was delicious. We ordered the local cold meat plate as our starter, and it paired perfectly with the bread and homemade pesto.
For our main course, my partner ordered the octopus, and I ordered the tuna steak. Both were cooked to perfection and were some of the best seafood dishes we've ever had. Our waiter also did a great job recommending a local wine that paired perfectly with our meal.
Overall, an amazing experience from start to finish. This is a must-visit restaurant if...
