Gurme Tapas & Wine — Restaurant in Grad Hvar

This place was a great experience. The service my wife and I experienced was the best out of all the restaurants we visited on our 2.5 week vacation in both Croatia and Italy! To get started, our waiter Ivan, was on top of his game. We were having trouble deciding on which wine to go with and he brought us samples of each wine until we found one that we enjoyed. My wife tried various tapas which she enjoyed and I ordered the octopus burger because I wanted to be adventurous. We also tried their bacon because we were missing home cooked bacon and it tasted exactly like it tastes in the states which was great! Ivan constantly came back to check on us and made us feel like we were at home. Filip was inside preparing some prosciutto which we also sampled and that was delicious! Had a nice smokey taste to it and a very fresh flavor. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for an enjoyable place...

We visited Gurme last night while in Hvar. We had high expectations due to the high rating and kind reviews. However, we were VERY disappointed in the food. We ordered the cheese board for two, which consisted of sliced cheese (only 2 types of manchego) on a bed of iceberg lettuce… and orange slices (I assume left over from a cocktail?). This set us back 20 euros and bread was not included. We then ordered a tortilla which we assumed would be a Spanish style egg tortilla, as this is a ‘tapas restaurant’… we were mistaken. This was a tortilla wrap stuffed with wet oily cheese and mushrooms, with a side of oven chips with no seasoning. The meal set us back 100 euros and we were very bitter. Could have made it better ourselves. The plus side was the service, our waiter was lovely and the atmosphere was also a delight. The wine wasn’t bad too. After 1 week spent in Hvar the Croatian St Tropez with higher prices , many restaurants earning enough money to survive without a smile , a welcome etc.. we found this very nice Gurme restaurant, polite, , smiling , quickly finding a table for us without making us waiting too much .. they spent time advising us about the wines, free testing of 3 red wines before we bought a bottle with a waiter coming back every time (he even changed the bottle we ordered as we were not sure of the cork quality!!) Food was very good ,price lower or same than other restaurants around the port , tapas portions were big .. congratulation !! We are from FRANCE and Russia and after 25 years travelling over 70 countries we decided for the first time to leave this nice comment about the Gurme restaurant on Hvar...
