Banica Apartments & Rooms — Hotel in Grad Split

This is a fantastic venue, and the location can't be beaten. Just round the corner from the main square its ideal for shops, bars, restaurants and all the main sites. Also a short walk from the marina/port where you get the boats to other islands or for day trips. We went to Korcula and Dubrovnik, plus an evening boat trip. ||||The apartments are clean, spacious and comfortable and there's the added bonus of a communal covered balcony area which is great for breakfast/evening drinks + kitchen with all amenities + an open rooftop with great views and good for sunbathing!||||The owner Mirko was super helpful. We had to amend our booking a few times due to covid issues with flights etc but he easily made the amendments. Also allowed us to keep the room for most of our final day as we had a late flight, which most places wouldn't allow.||||I've already recommended this venue to friends and would happily to do so to anybody staying in Split.||||Two very minor downsides:||- As it's very central, the Bell tower is perhaps only 100metres away ... the bells ring at 6am every morning and often more regularly, so we were woken up by this every day which was a bit frustrating. Nothing the venue can do about this, but its worth noting for light sleepers or those who like to sleep with the windows open!||- Our room (35) had a bath with a handheld shower fitting. This was generally fine but tended to spray everywhere, meaning having to have 'lie down showers' in the bath! Didn't bother me, but is more annoying for women wanting to properly wash long hair etc. Just changing the shower head would easily fix this. ||||Anyway, if I was in Split again i'd...

Do not stay here.

I did not have hot water for the last two days of my trip. After being told the switch for the boiler is outside the bathroom (this wasn't advised when I arrived), I was told to let it warm up for 20 minutes. After it didn't, someone had to come and eventually advise the boiler broke. I eventually had to shower in another one of their units. The whole process from when I advised them to when I was able to shower took over an hour and ruined my evening plans. I can't imagine how frustrating it would be if someone tried doing this in the morning before a day trip. All I got from the inconvenience was a "we're sorry".

Also, this place is right above a very loud bar, which you can hear even after closing. I travelled for a month and this was my most expensive, yet worst overall, apartment. You will find much better value...
