Unhelpful, dishonest staff who held our passports hostage while they were at the bar next door. I'd like to be clear on this point: when we arrived, the receptionist was drinking at the bar next door. We clearly interrupted her and she showed how irritated she was that we got in the way of her evening. They mishandled the reservation, gave us rooms that were not what we had reserved (and we were able to show our reservation confirmations). The receptionist's primary concern was returning to the bar as soon as possible.
Rooms aren't well kept or ventilated so they smell moldy. The air conditioning doesn't always work. The staff charged us for the most expensive room, gave us an inferior room and then advertised the more expensive room for twice the price we'd agreed to upon booking three months in advance.
Infrastructure isn't great - the elevator stops between floors, which is alarming. This would be forgivable if the staff made an effort to provide service at least as advertised, but they did not. They advertised breakfast, but we took one look at the tiny, underprovisioned dining room and left.
The management here are clearly price gouging during high season. I cannot emphasize enough how dishonest the staff were and how unpleasant our experience was. With all the options in Split, there is no reason short of desperation why anyone would book a room at this horribly managed...
Read moreHotel was fine, and in a good location, but my stay was affected by an unfortunate incident, I had an electric shock from a faulty wall socket I had reported 3 days earlier. I reported the faulty socket within an hour off us checking in, and was told they would send in the house keeper, but I said it needed an electrician, but nothing was done. We left for 2 days to go to Zagreb, but kept our room as the Hotel would not cancel for 2 days as we booked via Last minute, but that's another story. On our return, I checked to see if the socket had been repaired, and that's when I received the shock, it totally shocked and scared me, I immediately reported it to reception, to be told, don't worry it would not kill you. I emailed the Hotel stating how unhappy I was and would be seeking compensation, for a refund of our hotel say, as a guest should not expect an electric shock from a 4 star Hotel Now, we were told to see the manager, but unfortunately, he was not about when we checked out, so was told to email. When I emailed the manager, he accused me of being a con artist and a liar, but I have evidence and a witness, and he also accused me of violence and abuse, but I never met the manager,...
Read moreLocated in a public square, this place has got very good access by foot to most of the happening places in Split. Though the building is old, it has been renovated in a mix of old and modern style. The rooms are comfortable, very well maintained and clean. Limited breakfast choices are there, but they are more than adequate. The focus on cleanliness of the surrounding place is really very praiseworthy. One can see the motorised wet cleaners mopping the lanes in the very early morning. The lanes though old shine through and leave a very pleasant feeling. A lift is available for accessing the top floors. The reception is on the first floor so be aware. Around the square and in the narrow lanes are restaurants and shops of all types. A supermarket, SPAR is about 50 metres away. The palace is also very close by as is the beautiful sea side promenade. The only thing to keep in mind in terms of location is that no cars are allowed in the area, so one has to get down and walk about 300-400 metres with your luggage to reach the hotel. All in all a very conveniently located and comfortable place to stay while visiting the...
