Very pleased with our stay at the Captain's Guest House. The room was clean, recently and tastefully renovated, and had all basic amenities including good air conditioning and a bar fridge. The proprietress was very helpful and attentive, providing excellent service. The location is absolutely perfect, with good restaurants immediately beside and nearby, including small grocery stores, ATM, shops, etc. The National Theater is just steps away, as well as a city municipal bus stop which is manned with a ticket agent. As well, the property is just a couple blocks walk from Diocletian's Palace. Lots to see and do nearby. I see from older reviews that some people have complained that the hair salon downstairs plays the radio too loud but we did not notice any problem whatsoever. There is a sound door (which is also a locking security door) at the entrance to the guestrooms floor from the stairwell which silences any noise from the salon below. Read moreDon't usually stay in this type of accommodation but delighted that we chose this apartment. It is centrally located and easy to find. It was very clean and comfortable. There are lots of restaurants around and it is in the centre of Split making everything close at hand. Our room was not the biggest I have stayed in but it was clean, tidy and very comfortable. They did forget to clean the room one day but things happen!!! No big problem, we didnt tell them but just made up the bed and had towels anyway. We had a problem with the room safe which was attended to immediately. We accidently broke a glass and that was no problem. ||Would definitely recommend staying here and we would have no hesitation...

Upon arrival we were told our room had been let to some americans who turned up with no reservation.||||After some discussion the owner offered a much inferior apartment down the street. A quick check suggested it should have been half the price. Finally she insisted we marked the booking as cancelled on booking.com and gave a refund in cash , it would seem to prevent us going through their complaints procedure and leaving a bad review there ||||In hindsight we feel she simply gazzumped us for people offering to pay more for the room.||||Dont endorse this behaviour and let it taint your...
