My recent experience at SILK Restaurant was nothing short of disappointing. My friends and I were excited to dine at this establishment, but unfortunately, the service left much to be desired.

Upon arriving, we requested a table for six, as we were expecting three more people to join us. The waiter initially suggested adding another table to accommodate us, but I politely asked if we could be moved to a larger table instead, as the chairs at the current table were uncomfortable. To my surprise, the waiter seemed annoyed by this request and even asked me “what’s the difference?” but eventually complied with our wishes.

When we were finally ready to place our orders, we were still waiting for the remaining three members of our party to arrive. When we were ready to order the young man serving us told us: he would only serve us drinks until the rest of our group arrived. I was confused by this policy and asked for an explanation, wondering if the kitchen had closed. Instead of a reasonable answer, he simply reiterated the rule that they couldn't take our food orders until everyone was present. It felt like a senseless and arbitrary rule to impose on hungry customers. (At the end it wasn’t even a policy, he was just being stubborn for no apparent reason)

Trying to reason with him, I mentioned that our missing friends would join us within 30 minutes, and we were all quite hungry. However, the response I received was far from satisfactory. The waiter had the audacity to brush off our concerns and essentially dismiss us by saying, "just listen," before walking away. It was a display of rude and unprofessional behavior that left us feeling disrespected and ignored.

Thankfully, a more empathetic lady on the staff noticed our frustration and intervened to help us. She took our food orders, listened to our requests, and provided attentive service throughout our meal. Unlike the young man, she demonstrated a positive attitude and made us feel valued as customers.

While the food itself was decent, the overall experience was marred by the terrible service we encountered from one particular waiter. It's unfortunate that a single individual can have such a significant impact on a dining experience. I hope the management of SILK Restaurant addresses this issue and trains their staff to treat all customers with respect and attentiveness, regardless of the size of their party or the timing of their arrival. Until then, I hesitate to recommend this...

From the beginning when we entered the smaller restaurant, we asked for a table for 2. 2 waiters told us that we could only sit at the bar. We asked if there was any option in the bigger restaurant next door (they own both) and without looking for us, they said immediately no. When we left disappointed, we waited for a few minutes outside of the big restaurant and found there were 3 tables free! I went in and we got a table straight away. Then with our ordering, I asked for no fresh ingredients on top of any dishes as I have to be extra careful with fresh ingredients being very well washed. Then we also asked for tap water (as a small 33cl bottle is €4!!!), and straight away said no (it should be a basic human right, mamma mia). Our first entree had fresh ingredients on top, it definitely looked like it had been sitting there for a while in the kitchen waiting to be served for the first person who ordered it. Not freshly made at all. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to make a fuss. Then 2nd dish comes, again, such a sad looking dish of noodles with the fresh ingredients on top. I said that I couldn't eat it and the waiter was so confused. I said that it was a request from the beginning and had not been respected. He went back to change it and what a surprise when he came back! The noodles finally looked fresh from the wok! Luckily I said something because all the food looked so sad and like it had been sitting there for a while. The prices are also very high. Better to go to a more authentic place for affordable delicious Asian food. We found one in Split city centre...

Update to the owners reply: I appreciate your sarcastic reply. It would have been great if you had put this knowledge in your cooking skills and in the maintenance of your restaurant rather than being rude to your customers. Anyways like you had mentioned I could have mentioned on the food to the person in there but when you get cut chilli pieces for a extra spicy dish asked it shows the knowledge and the quality of the restaurant. So there's no point in mentioning that. We would simply end up in an argument like how you are doing now rather than correcting your flaws. Anyways I could see a lot of customer reviews being disliked and I did go through your rude reply for it as well. I wish you all the very best in running your restaurant! Positive note the service is excellent. I could see the staffs welcoming every client with smile and the order was always taken with smile.

We'll to comment on the food I should say it's at your own risk to try. Horrible taste. I ordered a silky wings which was extremely horrible. The chicken was very rough and seemed to be old. Wings are supposed to be soft and juicy one of the worst wings I've ever had. The next dish is pad thai noodles. I ask them for an extra spicy pad thai noodles and what I get is plain noodles with extra chilly cut and kept on a seperate plate. I was taken aback. The so called dumplings was extremely oily. It had so much oil that one couldn't cook an extra pad thai noodles with that oil. Pheww terrible. I and my wife had an extremely bad stomach...

I like asian food and the menu looked good. But the system of ordering and then assigning customers a table is strange and inefficient at the least. Which leaves customers unsatisfied. Just as we are. We explicitly asked for a table for two outside. The waiter outside told us that he would fix it for us after ordering and paying. After paying for our food we were assigned a place between two other couples at a table. We were all too close to each other, which was uncomfortable (and not corona-proof at all). We had no other option but to sit there. However, the most disrespectful part comes now: just as we sat between the couples, the waiter brought a table and 2 chairs from inside for the next couple to sit outside. The couple who this “extra” service was provided for were posh-looking (is that the reason for the extra service?) I was astonished. I walked up to the waiter and told him why he did not give us a table for two when I asked for it specifically. I told him that his behavior was not kind at all. But he just shrugged it off. The food itself was presented in a messy way and the food was average, but the price was too high considering the average quality and taste. I do NOT recommend this place at all. Save your hard-earned money and spend it somewhere else.

In short: a lack of professionalism of the waiters. Less adaptation to dietary needs/sensitivities. Long: I really like wok, where all the ingredients are stir-fried together. I need the dish without gluten, and it was not possible to change it to rice noodles. There was no explanation from the waitress what's the difference was , after all, the Pad Thai(which is gluten-free) and the wok dish are the with the same ingredients, only separated. I didn't give up after I didn't get a complete answer and I asked for the gluten-free Kimchi. After a long time waiting for an answer regarding the Kimchi I advised her to just check with the person in charge and after more than 20 minutes of waiting in total, they made the order. I strongly recommend to state what vegetables are there, and not just in some of the dishes.. By the way, I asked the Kimchi without the cabbage (sensitivity), and I received it with ..Really hope they made it gluten free
