Corto Maltese Freestyle food — Restaurant in Grad Split

For our last dinner in Split, we wanted to find the best place, after looking at the reviews of several restaurants and reading the excellent ratings of this place we decided to make a reservation.

Our expectations were not met, the service, in general, is good. As the main course we both ordered "Ballad of the salted Sea", due to the fact that it included shrimp + blue crab and we hadn't had the opportunity to eat them on our trip. The portion was between normal and small, the tagliatelle was al dente, but Oh surprise! that on the plate we only found some tiny shrimp 🍤 (the ones you find frozen in any supermarket in Germany are bigger) and almost absolutely no crab, the taste of altogether was quite flat. I don't understand the reviews where they say that the flavors are wonderful, judging by the photos of other users, I would like to think that it was due to the crowd at that time, but the truth is that we were very disappointed by the lack of flavor and seafood, being that they are part of the description.

The only totally redeemable thing about the dinner was the "Lavandella" drink, it was delicious, and there was live music while we ate. The menu is fun and original!

Dining at this restaurant was an absolute delight from start to finish. The food was nothing short of stunning—every dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. From starters to mains, everything was executed with precision and creativity, making it hard to pick a favorite. That said, the mains, The Squid Game, and Angry Bird, ae well as the dessert, Nadalina, deserves a special mention. The dessert was rich, indulgent, and perfectly balanced, and it was the kind of sweet ending that lingers in your memory.

Service was equally impressive. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely cared about the dining experience. They struck the perfect balance between professionalism and friendliness, always on hand without being intrusive.

The ambiance added to the charm—stylish yet relaxed, with a vibe that made you want to linger a little longer. Whether you're out for a romantic evening or a casual dinner with friends, the setting feels just right.

Prices were surprisingly reasonable given the quality of food and service. It’s rare to find a place that delivers on all fronts without breaking the bank. For starters, had the "Operation Swordfish" (Swordfish cerviche w wasabi mayo) and "The fat of the lamb" (Lamb tartare .... As it hard to find and I wanted to try(

The Swordfish cerviche was fantastic, great flavours coming together. Refreshing and the Swordfish was firm to the bite

Some people may find the lamb too gamey but I was okay with it

(Yeah, you would have thought I would choose a punny named dish, right?)

Came with a wonderful bakset of warm bread

Mains was "Ballad of the dalty sea" (homemade tagliatelle with bisque shrimps) A tad salty for my preference, but I note many of the cooking I have had in Split tends to be a bit salty. Bisque had good shrimp flavours and pasta was al dente

The waitress was excellent. She knew the dishes and took time to explain the items, pointing out what the ingredients were

By chance, I had the Prosek Hektrovic dessert wine. With my sweet tooth, i ended up having 4 glasses

Lots of humor and charm in this place, including the restrooms
