I spent four nights at this hotel that, in my opinion, should be rather a 3-star than a 4-star hotel. The staff was super nice, especially the lady and her husband at the front desk. Both very helpful and accommodating. The location of the hotel was excellent, a short walking distance to the old part of town. But that would also probably be one of the very few positive impressions about my stay which, all in all, was rather disappointing. Although my room was clean and comfortable, it was also pretty dark, with barely any natural light, even though it was on the fourth floor. I travel quite a lot for work and it has never happened to me to get only one pillow simply because the bed was intended for a single use. When booking my stay directly through the hotel's website I got the impression that the whole idea of the room interior was to recreate the retro style. Turns out that the furniture is simply old. The spa area is nothing special. A place in the basement with two saunas and a relaxing room which, during the time of my visit, resembled more a circus than a place for relaxation. Terrible, uncivilised guests who didn't seem to understand the concept of peace and quiet, which a spa place according to my understanding should be, made it feel more a market place than a spa. The biggest disappointment by far was the restaurant. When booking my accommodation at the property, I opted for a half-board. While breakfast, albeit very average, still was able to cater to different tastes, dinner was clearly designed for meat-eating guests only, with very little to zero tasty alternatives for guests on a plant-based diet. In 2022, when more and more people are turning towards healthier dietary choices, I find this to be extremely disappointing. Especially for a 4-star hotel which should be able to cater to all tastes, no exceptions and no excuses. With several different types of meat, potato, pasta or cous-cous were clearly intended to be only a side dish to the meat. So for four nights in a row my only option for a warm meal was more or less potato in all shapes and forms, supplemented by slices of cucumber, tomato and grated carrots, since even the salad bar offered a rather poor choice. The dessert too offered only one option, typically some form of a sponge cake, and usually too dry to label it as tasty. In general it was clear that dinner was prepared with zero imagination and with dishes so basic, that anyone with at least some cooking skills would have done a better job compared to the restaurant's chef. As much as I appreciated the friendliness of the staff, that was not the reason I had booked my stay at this property. I booked it for the service I was hoping and expecting to get, considering the fact that I paid for it. I would definitely not recommend anyone staying at this place as I am sure there are better ones that will provide you with a exactly the service for the money...
Read moreBeautiful hotel ( 3+ stars, not 4, in my opinion) in a quiet area, not too far from the main area of interest. Nice and big rooms, clean and some of them with balcony. I was lucky to have a room with balcony and street view. No air condition and sometimes it is very hot in the room. We had few days with 26 -28°C inside and was uncomfortable. Reception staff very nice, all of them smiling all the time and willing to help. Many thanks to them! Unfortunately not the same words about medical staff. Most of them very "sour". The doctor is not too communicative, offering not too many explanation regarding the procedures to follow. Regarding the restaurant, the only nice thing there is the staff! Very friendly and communicative ladies there. With their nice attitude and service, they make a little bit attractive the restaurant. About the meals, only bad words. I never, but never, had such bad meals in a restaurant in my life. Starting with not enough cooked eggs (half of the egg beeing raw) or omlet from poweders and chemicals up to the daily "grechka" (something like boiled wheat) and the same meat with the same very bad cooked and tasting sauces everyday, nothing decent to eat. The salads (1 or max. 2 per day), a mix of everything, products without matching and no taste. Soups -I had better ones in the army. A lot of food going to the trash, a lot of spoiled products, due to some unqualified cook. A friendly advice: take anyone from the street, it will cook much better! Another issue to urgently solve there is the elevator. It's working absolutly without logic. It has no direction to follow and carries you between floors, doesn't matter what floor or direction you want. Too many rooms and people for only 1 elevator and it cannot normaly serve. At...
Read moreLocation is fantastic 5 minute walk from city center, very quiet area. Room was large enough and had everything needed for a vacation stay. A kettle would be a nice addition to each room so we can make a teaor something. Breakfast does not offer a lot of options but there is enough for everyone (maybe not for vegetarians) and above average quality. Staff is very friendly.
Disliked · A few things: WI-FI is so weak and slow it practically does not exist shower gels are provided as one use plastic packs, 1 per person. Not enough to even wash half of a body, not to mention hair. Recommendation: find another way to provide shower gel, can even be squeeze bottles screwed on the wall but the mini packs are completely useless. A reasonable amount for a full body shower would be like 5-6 packs per person. throw out the spring based mattresses. They were trendy about 15 years ago. Beds were not very comfortable, every once in a while I felt some spring pressing against my ribs. the black liquid served as coffee is to be avoided. Please change your coffee provider because it is absolutely terrible. It was the first time in my life I drank a coffee that was bitter AND sour at the same time. I did not think it is possible and I have drank a lot of bad coffee in my life.
Another dislike, but something the hotel has no control over, the closest underground guarded parking is 15 minute walk. There is no chance to park next to the hotels in that area or anywhere in old city center for a fact so be prepared to leave your car far - NONSTOP underground parking, parking next to Dolni Nadrazi, Therme parking IF you have incredible luck and find...
