We visited this establishment, and while I must start by saying that the food was delicious, the service left much to be desired.
To begin with, we were served four pieces of bread with some cheese spread. This is a standard practice in Mediterranean countries, and that was fine.
When we couldn’t finish our pizza, we requested the remaining slices to be packed and asked for the bill. The total came to 1,101 CZK.
I had exactly 1,100 CZK on hand, and since a 10% service charge (which included tips) was already applied, I thought it wouldn’t be an issue to give exactly 1,100 CZK. However, the waitress insisted that we add the extra 1 CZK. My wife had to scramble to find some coins and ended up adding another 10 CZK.
Later at the hotel, I noticed that in addition to the 10% tip they automatically included, the waitress was unwilling to waive a single crown. Additionally, they charged us nearly 2 euros for the pizza box.
In the end, the bread, the pizza box, and the mandatory tips significantly inflated the bill. Furthermore, beneath the total in CZK, there was an amount shown in euros, which was almost 10 euros higher than it should have been based on a fair exchange rate. This implies they were also attempting to overcharge us through an unfavorable currency conversion.
In summary, while the food is tasty, the deceptive practices and excessive charges added to the bill make this place one I...
Read moreEdit : so lying must be an habit for this owner. In the answer below the owner claim that the 35CZK for the ''coperto'' are on the menu and include bread, oil and I don't know what. It's, again, a plain lie as we had no bread, no oil, no aioli on the table. It's a frequent trick in Czech Republic unfortunately to claim that beceause of course charging for forks and knives is Illegal. I won't bother to report it to authority as I know they won't do anything but I hope some day fines will rain on those dishonest practice and people.
Original message : Why the hell do you feel the need to scam people by making them pay for cuttelry and service? Just include it in the price instead of lying to artificially lower the price. In the long run you are damaging your image more than anything else. You have very decent food and staff, so why this kind of behavior? Grow up! The average clientele in Karlovy Vary is quite wealthy, nobody will care if you pump you price by 20%... Stupid...
Read moreThe food was very good. However, not worth the price. We were charged way more than expected, due to services we didn't even know we had to pay for (and 0,7L of water for 129 Kc). And yes, we were told that it's in the "small letter" of the menu, but they cannot expect us to read a whole menu (do you expect us to read the whole menu?!) AND if we HAVE TO PAY THAT MUCH for it, the waiter MUST let us know beforehand. Also, we were charged a 10% tip, they didn't even ask us if we wanted to pay it, which we obviously didn't, and basically took advantage of poor innocent tourists. The change from Euros to Kc was not accurate and were charged EVEN MORE, as if that was even possible.
It is true that the waiters were very lovely and food was very tasty, but I think it is embarrassing to trick tourists in a...
