We booked this based on previous reviews and were disappointed. We have never stayed at a Wyndham Hotel before and probably will not again.|The good bits - staff were lovely and could not help enough, the hotel|is modern and bright with excellent walk in shower. Beds were comfortable. It was very clean and we liked the ‘take a plant to your room’ idea.|The bad bits - location is horrible on the junction of two main roads. Whilst a short distance to town there is no good walk, either go over an unlit footbridge to a dark path next to some open land inhabited by drunks at night, or walk on the verge of the dual carriage way and cross to the tram stop. Fortunately taxis were only about 100 czk.|It is however directly opposite the Pilsner brewery and its tours.|The in-room safe did not work and could not be fixed. We had to take valuables to reception.|Breakfast was amongst the worst hotel breakfasts I have been served.|The quantity and range was not too bad but the hot food was cold both days, waffles and eggs left under a heat lamp that just made them dry and not hot. Only white bread on the second day. The serving area was messy and not cleaned despite staff regularly checking the quantity of food left.|The room was not cleaned second day until we asked and were told it was for ‘environmental reasons’ which is pure rubbish, I am happy to use the same sheets and towels but not making beds, cleaning and replenishing the coffee pods is just cost cutting, but of course they did replenish the chargeable mini bar.|The back of the hotel and car park is accessed by a road through some poor quality housing, again with drunks loitering about. They were absolutely no problem just not a...
Read moreThe hotel is generally ok (location and standard), but I have some criticism. The surprise upon arrival was when I was asked if I want breakfast. When booking, I didn't pay attention to the fact that breakfast could be an option. At this price, in all the hotels I stayed in, breakfast was included as standard. Here it was added to the booking amount and was a separate item on the invoice. The problem was that in the delegation we have limits on the amount we can use for the hotel. Adding breakfast resulted in exceeding this amount and causing some bureaucratic problems at the university. It was also a problem with WiFi in the room. I had some meetings and had to stay with computer close to the door to connect.
As for the service at the reception, I think that Mrs. A*et had some problem with me and my colleague. She issued the invoice with errors. She looked like she was offended that she had to serve us. Only after intervention we received the correct invoice. We skipped breakfast for the last two days of our stay. The money for these unused breakfasts should be transferred to the account (we even received a receipt that the transfer had been sent). To this day, the money for these breakfasts has not been transferred to our accounts (more than two weeks have passed since the stay). Maybe the receptionist serving us made a mistake again
Overall, we will choose a different...
Read moreWe enjoyed a relaxing few days at the hotel whilst visiting Pilsen for a short holiday break. The hotel is well located and only a short walk into the main centre - once you realise that it is best to head towards the station in order to cross the busy ring road! An alternative is to go over the pedestrian footbridge to the brewery and then head to town from there! We arrived very early and were pleasantly surprised to find that rather than just leaving our bags, as we expected, the reception staff went out of their way to find a room which was ready, and checked us in straight away. The (Executive) room was spacious and well appointed. We faced the main road, but found the room to be quiet. The bed was very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was excellent. There is a variety of cooked items, fruit, cereals, dried fruits, breads, pastries, preserves, yoghurts, fruit juices, smoothies, tea and coffees. We had evening meals and found the quality and presentation to be better than expected. The menu is reasonably extensive, with adequate choice for a few days stay. The restaurant is large and was quite empty, as might be expected early in the week. It was therefore a little lacking in atmosphere, but that is a minor point. Overall, a very pleasant and comfortable stay. We would have no hesitation in going back, or trying other Vienna House / Vienna House...
