RIG Casa Conde — Hotel in Santo Domingo

I would not recommend this place to anyone.

The experience was far from what we expected. The room was dirty, with stains on the towels and a noticeable smell in the bathroom that made it hard to feel comfortable. The bathroom itself was in poor condition, with grime and rust everywhere. The rooms were dusty, and even the lamps had rust on them, making it clear that cleanliness and maintenance were not priorities.

To make matters worse, the A/C didn’t work at all, making the room unbearably hot, and the hot water kept running out during our showers—something you’d expect in a budget motel, not a place that claims to be a hotel. The doors were poorly constructed and seemed like they could break at any moment.

The entire place is in desperate need of a complete renovation, from top to bottom. The quality of the rooms, amenities, and facilities was shockingly bad. I would give this place zero stars if I could.

We stayed for two nights, but we left early because it was so uncomfortable. On top of everything, we had to wait over four hours just to get towels, and despite requesting a double room, we were given something completely different.

On the positive side, the staff was friendly, and the breakfast was decent. But, sadly, the negatives far outweigh these small positives. This place felt like a scam, and after our experience, we couldn’t wait to return to the cleanliness and comfort of our resort in Punta...

The only redeeming qualities for this hotel are that the hotel is in a prime location and the pillow top bed and pillows are comfortable. The WiFi wasn't great for video calls and phone calls were spotty, but the Internet was good enough for me to work remotely. I would expect that to vary a lot by room as my service was terrible and I could barely connect in specific areas of the room.

The worst part was the AC, or lack thereof. The first night it was well over 100F in the room upon arrival. I had the front desk person help and he said give it a few hours. A few hours later it was still miserable. After about 20 hours of it running, it was maybe 85 in the room. Advertising they have "AC" was 100% false advertising. Staying outside would have been more comfortable. The AC in the office and breakfast rooms worked fine, but not in the rooms, as many have mentioned. The breakfast wasn't good and the eggs probably had more salt than eggs. At least I was only here 2 nights and it was in a good location.

The shower seemed 3rd world and was not good, you have to hold the handle to wash. It was terrible and moldy.

I'd never stay here again and recommend spending extra for a quality spot....

Ventajas

Es el hotel mas Económico de la Zona Colonial basándonos en Calidad/Precio. Ubicación (Si quieres estar mas cerca de la zona urbana y el Parque Independiente) Incluye Desayuno, un ambiente muy cómodo para los recién despertados 😊, la comida es básica pero esta bien (8.5/10), puede no gustarle a paladares mas refinados. Las habitación tienen lo básico (TV, Baño, Cama, Aire acondicionado, Abanico de Techo y algunos muebles, etc.), las Camas son cómodas, la higiene es buena, y los baños aunque pequeños (Hasta en las habitaciones mas grandes), cumplen con su objetivo 😅. Aire acondicionado split enfría bien y no hace ruido extraños o fuerte. Entrada principal muy segura, hay que tocar el timbre para que el de recepción te deje entrar quitando el seguro a la puerta a distancia. Interior de la instalación bonito, tanto la recepción como los pasillos tiene un ambiente lindo y acogedor. Los empleados son amables y muy atentos, sobre todo las jóvenes de limpieza.

Desventajas

Según la fecha de reservación los precios pueden no ser tan económicos basándonos en la calidad precio y frente a otras opciones. Esta lejos del área más turística de la Zona Colonial, y mas se acerca la medianoche tienda a tener mucho menos gente y negocios abiertos cuando te vas acercando. Las habitación que tienen balcón, solo son mas grande que las mas económicas. Por el balcón entra mas la luz del sol y el ruido exterior (Planta Eléctricas, Actividades Religiosas, Vehículo, Persona, etc.) No tiene parqueo propio, pero en la cercanía hay dos lugares que ofrecen el servicio amanecida (6:00 pm - 8:00 am) a la fecha 300-400 pesos.

En resumen es un hotel económico, acogedor y el servicio es razonablemente bueno, si no necesitan mas beneficios que una habitación para dormir, ver TV, y un baño a buen precio es el lugar. Tener en cuenta que las habitaciones mas grandes con balcón no ofrecen mas que tamaño y el balcón (por lo menos esa fue mi experiencia), al estar al frente del edificio deja entrar ruidos que pueden ser molestos, menos en la noche no ya que el área aledaña no tiene servicio nocturno y casi no hay gentes o negocios abiertos, para esto hay que ir mas al Este para disfrutar de Restaurantes, Discotecas y Edificios turistas, etc., algo bueno para los que quieren alejarse de los ruidos nocturnos pero malo porque debes caminar mucho y en la noche la calle principal para dirigirse al hotel se va vaciando de gente y negociar abiertos según te vas...
