A beautiful cafe around the tourist area of Santo Domingo. This Cafe is just what someone looking for a cozy place to relax and enjoy a caffeinated drink.
Emphasis on the lax lifestyle. Let's start with the negatives. DO NOT come here if your looking for a quick coffee stop. This is, as many other places in DR a place where everyone takes it slow. If you expect to eat prepare to wait double the time expected.
However, if your looking for a peaceful, friendly, and quite place to relax for maybe half an hour to an hour, this is your place. The staff is very helpful and courteous yet very slow and sometimes inattentive. The establishment is clean with a calm ambiance and classy decor.
The food is good with a variety of selection which includes the typical western and Dominican dishes. If your expecting high end, this is not it. But the price is comparable to other local restaurants in the area with this type of western feel. Food range from 10-15 dollars.
Overall this cafe was a great experience and i do recommend it to anyone who's looking for a relaxed breakfast or lunch. Or even if you just need a place...
Read moreCoffee was good. The mochachino was made with regular choc syrup and the caramel seemed to be similar. If you order a coffee, mix before drinking! All the syrup was at the bottom. Whipped cream seemed to be from a can but all in all was still yummy. I liked the coffee, but at this price I will go elsewhere next time.
Food was so-so. I expected better based on the reviews that were left here. The eggs Benedict were good but they were served on room temp (what seemed to be) store bought bread. The French toast were thin slices of (what seemed to be) store bought bread white bread. Neither seemed homemade by any means. The strawberry topping seemed to just be store bought jelly from a jar and the shredded cheese on the inside was room temp and not melted. It was definitely edible but for the reasons listed above, I wont come here and order food again.
Service was good. They greeted us at the door with friendliness. Waitress was attentive.
Atmosphere. Music was very jazzy and cool. Felt like we were transported to a different era. The cheap tables and tacky decor don’t match...
Read moreNice ambience and decor, free wifi and excellent coffee. I ordered an Americano with milk on the side and was charged for a large Cappucino instead. The coffee itself was strong and flavorful 👍🏼 However, I wasn't quite as impressed with the food and speed of service. I ordered Crepe Niza, a crepe stuffed with eggs scrambled with onions and tomatoes. It took about half an hour to arrive and was somewhat disappointing. The crepe itself was thin, but soggy. The filling was fairly bland, no hint of any herbs or spices, nor any salt or pepper. Onions had not been sauteed to bring out the flavor... The whole thing was covered with a generous helping of tasteless white cheese as well. I had to sprinkle a liberal amount of salt and black pepper to make this dish palatable for me. It's a fairly pricey restaurant by Dominican standards (around $10 USD for coffee and crepe) and I expected better from...
