I can guarantee you that you will not find a hotel as great as this one. The Awesome Part No room has the same style\size\decor. Each room is designed based on function and available space. We were assigned Room 15 and if you can get this room, I highly recommend it. It is spacious, well designed, and best of all...it has an upstairs floor just for sleeping (sort of a loft). The loft accommodates two mattresses (twin size). Room came with free breakfast and breakfast comes with the coolest people in the most cozy kitchen\dining area. Mari is the person who takes your order. She will do everything in her power so that your food is exactly as you expect it or better. After the first day, she remembered the next day the items we had our first time. That is customer service and she asked whether we wanted the same or different. The evening cook is Benito and he is a great one. We had a delicious pizza at the restaurant. The person who works upfront is very knowledgeable about the area and the good places to visit. Make sure you ask for a map and she will point out the spots to visit. They can also arrange for a taxi to come and get you.
The OK Part It is not your usual hotel...so our room did not include: a fridge or microwave. It gets really cold in the morning (since it is Quito) and there is no heating in the room...so bundle up. Keep in mind I will trade those things for the coziness, friendliness and just the feeling as if you are staying with family\friends any time of the...
Read moreI stayed here several nights before and after my tour to the Amazon and Galapagos as I did day tours from Quito and awaited the flight home.|| I felt secure in their locked gate area as a single person. || Breakfast was served daily. It was good, but repetitive after a couple of days. More variety would be appreciated. The ladies who worked in the breakfast area were very welcoming and served the food well. All the staff I encountered were||kind and helpful. I used luggage portage and had to check in multiple times as I traveled in Ecuador. || Due to Covid, the restaurant was not open in the evening. However, food is available to be delivered and is within walking distance. On a positive note, the internet is fabulous and free!|| The rooms are clean, well-appointed, and have extra blankets for the chilly Quito evenings. The hot water does take a while to come up from the basement. Let it run before stepping in. The spray is strong; the fixture is mounted high for a short person. That hair might get wet! LOL.|| Recommended for short stays for sure! The staff and privacy nudge the rating up to 4 stars. I...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel twice during our trip to Ecuador. The hotel is located in Colon, which seems to be a very safe area. Foch Square, a popular spot with numerous restaurants and bars, is only a 10-minute walk away. Additionally, there are several dining options in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. While the hotel provides a standard breakfast, it does not have its own restaurant. Complimentary coffee and tea are available 24/7, as is typical. The hotel features a colonial-style and the rooms are pleasant, yet modest. It is not surprising that they are not particularly roomy. On our second stay, we were four travellers sharing a larger room. While the accommodations were accurately described, we found ourselves considering the option of chipping in for an additional room towards the end of our stay. To our surprise, Vieja Cuba provided us with a complimentary room (speaking about going the extra mile for your guests). The hospitality was excellent! The staff was friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. I would highly...
