Cheerful and helpful owner (Amanda) & family. Not a lot of English spoken (bar Sergey, when he was around, and another girl at reception who we only met once) so without some Spanish there can be misunderstandings. Staff also very friendly and helpful. lnternet was poor (general problem in Galapagos I think) and caused problem paying bill as it failed in mid transaction with CC and we ended up duplicating the payment. To be fair Amanda went straight to bank to cancel as soon as we discovered it - money was back in our a/c in a week or so. Most rooms are good with spotless tiled floors - we ended up sampling 3 different rooms in our 4 night stay (1 night and then 3 more following a gap of a few days). One on 1st floor at the back of building was a big room with mini kitchen incl sink, fridge and microwave but was overlooked by closely adjacent property so we just kept curtains closed most of time which made it a bit gloomy. Equiv room on 3rd floor which we had for a couple of nights was a good room. Twin room on top floor (4th) which we had for 1 night was small but gave you easy access to the rough roof terrace which had a few chairs which we used to have a beer and some snacks watching the sun go down. All rooms we stayed in were noisy though - probably applies to much of Puerto Ayora accommodation - continuous cars in C Seymour, dogs, cockerels from 4 or even earlier, water pumps, etc. etc. not the best if you are a light sleeper. Normally we left the windows open - closing them helped a little but not much. Breakfast was reasonable - not laid out in a buffet but brought on request. Fresh fruit juice, eggs as you prefer, bread/toast, coffee/tea, fruit if you asked for it. Overall were happy enough with the place, esp Amanda & staff and would stay again but not in the room on 1st floor and I'd bring...
Read moreWe stayed here for 4 nights while exploring Santa Cruz. The small guest house is easy walking distance to the main street along the beach where all the restaurants, shops etc. are. It's on a side street so not too busy with traffic and people. They have small standard rooms on the very top and large rooms on the other floors. We switched to a large room which was more than double the size of the standard room and had a sofa, dining table with chairs and small kitchen (microwave, sink, plates, glasses). It's nice to be able to spread out after coming back from a day at the beach. On every floor in the corridor there is a water dispenser where you can get as much drinking water as you like (no plastic bottles needed). It also gives hot water which was suitable for our morning tea. The WiFi worked well most of the times but sometimes disappeared for an hour or so (I doubt this is the hotel's fault). AC and hot water worked very well. Breakfast was served on the ground floor, all freshly made as we sat down at the table. What I really liked at this hotel was the super friendly owner. She does not speak English and I don't speak Spanish but we managed to communicate. She always had a smile on her face and tried to help in every possible way. Ordering taxis , asking how our day was etc. It felt like coming home. If I ever come back to the Galapagos I for sure will...
Read moreI was walked to this hotel from its sister property Galapagos Dreams because of overbooking. I was put in a very nice suite w/fridge, sink, dishes, microwave, table, little couch and 3 twin beds (I was only one person, so that was a little odd).
The A/C was fantastic and the shower had good pressure. The only issue w/the room was the noise. The walls and ceilings are extremely thin, so you can every little thing, which if you have "active" people next to and above you can make for a tedious evening.
They have housekeeping everyday, but I found it weird that they took the two extra pillows from the other twin beds in my room when they came to clean and left me w/just one. Why they didn't leave the additional two pillows for me to enjoy was just strange.
The included breakfast was very good and the woman and her daughter running the place were nice and very helpful. They did an excellent job helping me arrange a taxi to the airport at a...
