Joy Hotel & Apartments — Hotel in Cairo

Tread carefully when considering this property. Im not gonna be biased and say the owner is a scammer, I believe they are running a legit property, however i also believe the owner is not afraid to take advantage of situations to make more money. I was meeting my fiancee and her relative in Cairo, paid for 3 for people 1 room. Despite paying, the owner began my arrival by threatening to not even allow me on the property as me and my fiancee were not "married" yet and because the listing has "no refund" I was out on the streets with my luggage and was forced to immediately book at a neighboring hotel, now paying for 2 different properties. Only after many inconvenient negotiations, the owner agreed to allow me to enter the same building my fiancee was in, if I rented another unit (now paying him for 2) as if he was doing me a favor, but not without Further threatening that theres cameras in the building and telling ME i cannot go near my own fiancee's unit. I requested if I can have 1/3 of the price I paid for my original booking to be added to my now 2nd unit at a discount, yet the owner refused. After all this, only to discover the unit was in poor condition, dryer didn't actually dry clothes after many cycles, the washer couldn't handle it's own vibration and would roam the bathroom. Water leaks, balcony door handle ripped off, major mosquito problem, and just pray the power doesn't go out when you're in the elevator.

We were supposed to stay at casa Rosa apartments because that’s what we booked in Expedia. Instead they send us here to joy apartments they have couple buildings so I’m just glad they were able to put us some where. I can’t complain because it was wonderful!!! Beautiful spacious bedrooms ! We loved the area the neighborhood was amazing cafe right when u exit you can smoke Hookah and sit and relax ! There’s a super big mechanic shop in the alley so you will hear a lot of noise and you will get a visit from their local dog beautiful dog we would always feed it every time we came back with leftover food. My kids will miss the dog a lot. He’s so cute and friendly. I loved how everything was walking distance ! if you’re a fan of Anthony Bourdain and his show, may he rest in peace the famous koshari abu tarek restaurant it’s right behind the building the one he went to it will be a beautiful experience we went and we loved it. I loved how Nagwa our host helped me out a lot she was very sweet and loving!! She came with me and my daughter for our haircuts since I didn’t know the area good she was kind enough to come with us. The worst experience ever. I arrived late with my family after prior informing the hotel about my arrival time and all the way to the hotel I was in contact with the hotel to guide me to the exact place which was not clearly marked on the map. Upon arrival, I found out that no room was ready for me , although I had made the full payment ahead. I was asked to wait in the street for a whole hour, after which nothing changed and I had no other option except to try to find another hotel room to stay in with my family at that late hour. Totally disrespectful staff, not even offering to refund the money or even excuse themselves for all the inconviencience they caused to me and my family, keeping us up all night, without any sign of concern. It should not be called a hotel, as it turned to be just an appartment in an old building, with no reception disk, no waiting area for guests to be lodged, and no staff at all but the door keeper of...
