Spent 3 nights in the Monk's Chamber at the Kuninga Apartments in September 2013. The apartment is a one bed studio and is definitely quirky - we loved it! The room was quite small but had a decent shower room, a small kitchen area (enough to make a simple dinner) and a small sofa and computer as well as the comfy bed. It has quite low ceilings which could be a problem if you are over 6ft.||||We spoke to the owner, Hannele, a few times before arriving and she was very helpful. When we arrived in Tallinn we got a bit lost due to all the road works and she came to find us which was really kind of her. She was really helpful with advice on things to see and places to eat throughout our stay - she also kept our bags and booked a taxi for us on our last day.||||The apartments feel very secure and are perfectly located right in the centre of the Old Town - the Old Town Square was less than a two minute walk away and it was a 10/15 minute walk to the top of Toompea Hill. All of the sights were within walking distance, including the Estonian Museum of Occupations which was excellent. Numerous options for eating, drinking and shopping close by. Would recommend these apartments to anyone visiting Tallinn - the Monk's Chamber is great for the prices and some of the more expensive apartments...
Read moreKuninga Apartments are located right off the main square in Tallinn. However, as you are back in your own courtyard, the place remains quiet. It was tremendously cool to be staying in our apartment, which was an extension of a medieval chamber. Despite the age, the apartments have various modern amenities, are clean, and up to date. We had a computer in ours, for example. The apartments also have their own security gate. While there is no one there round the clock, the friendly owner is always nearby to call. The apartments have strong wi-fi, but ours disappeared and never came back after our first night. This wasn't really too much of a problem because of the aforementioned computer. However, the room only had one window that opened, and in stuffy summer months a fan would have been a great addition. Otherwise, this was a great, pretty reasonable stay, and unlike many hotels--pretty unique...
Read moreUnless you know someone who owns a 600 year old castle, you will not be able to find another accommodation as old and original as this apartment. Located in heart of Old City Tallinn in a safe and secure courtyard, apartment is a very short walk to shops, restaurants, a small grocery/convenience store, and many museums and churches. Once you learn the simple street layout you will move around like a local. I know the owners mention it, but I will add here that the stairs to the loft are steep, the stone stairs down to the bathroom/shower are even steeper and winding. I managed to bump my head on the stone arch, my fault for not ducking down enough. So, if stairs are hard for you, or if you have little children, you may want to consider one of their other nice apartments. But when you think about it, it all is part of the history and ambience of...
