Tourists BEAWARE, you are not welcome here. They force you to pay with cash and don't return all your change money. They also refuse to give you deals that locals get.
This used to be good restaurant with decent service and good food, but now when i visited restaurant in June 2024 seems like everything have changed. I have visited this place few times during last 10 years.
This time i ordered pepper steak with pepper sauce and fries. I actually wanted to get grilled vegetables but since they cost 9 euros and portion is huge, almost half kilo? i thought that i don't want that huge amount of veggies so i ordered french fries. I asked my steak to be medium rare. I got my steak rare as you can see in picture. Not only it was little too raw to my liking but the steak wasn't best piece of meat in general. I don't know was it just cooked incorrectly or did they choose the bad piece because i'm not local? I can eat my meats pretty raw and that's why i didn't return it to kitchen. Now when i think about it, i should have returned there. 29€ price is pretty high even in Tallinn and with that you should get premium. Price doesn't even include anything else than steak and sauce. Fries were ok, and their pepper sauce is still actually good.
One reason why i didn't return it to kitchen was service. Last time i visited this restaurant, which was actually many years ago, they had deal on Facebook that if you buy 2 steaks you get bottle of red wine (or was is 2 glasses, i can't remember since it was many years ago) for free. Waiter had no idea about it and since inside restaurant internet is not working (neither their Wifi or 4G) i couldn't show them their own post so we didn't get wine. Because i remembered that i got bad service last time, i didn't want to complain as i though that steak is ok just little raw (well, after eating it i realized that i can make it better at home). Anyway this time waiter never came to ask how i like my food, not during eating or after i had eaten so basically there wasn't even chance to complain or say anything about food. It wasn't weekend and restaurant wasn't full so waiter had plenty of time to do those things. I was not asked do i want dessert or more drinks or anything.
When i finished i asked for the bill and showed waiter my card. I requested to pay with card multiple times, but waiter (Aleksandr) told me that ''it's better to pay with cash'' even i told him i want to pay with card. Card terminal was working as i saw locals who were able to pay with card without question. My bill came to 39,70€ and i gave Aleksandr 50€ note. He came back with 10€ and disappeared with 30cnt. I know that if you get good food and service it's good habit to tip waiter. But this time waiter stole that 30cnt from me. I was not drunk or loud or anyhing. I sat silently and didn't disturb anyone so i don't think i should have got service like that. That 30cnt isn't about money. Its about that its NOT OK to take customers money as a tip without permission.
I contacted restaurant afterwards with email but never got any reply. I guess this restaurant doesn't want tourists to visit it. There are a lot of other meat restaurants in Tallinn that welcome tourists too. I really liked this place the first few times i...
UPDATE for the 2nd visit on Saturday, 17.5. So... This was my second visit here, and it was quite disappointing compared to my first visit, which was really enjoyable.
Despite the fact that the restaurant was only 20-30% full on that Saturday evening, we had to wait for the waiter to come to our table for 10 minutes. The restaurant's name is "Meat & Wine," so we decided to order steaks and a bottle of wine. I asked our waiter for a recommendation on two different wines, and he suggested one. However, after 10 minutes, he returned to inform us that they didn't have either of the wine options I had asked for earlier. What's more, around 50% of their wine selection was missing from their menu. Eventually, we settled for what they had available, which cost us 38 EUR.
After another 10 minutes, the waitress brought us the chosen bottle of wine, but to our surprise, it was served at a temperature of about 26 degrees Celsius. How is this possible for a restaurant named "Meat & Wine"? I believe that if a restaurant has such a name, their main focus should be on the quality of their meat and wine, don't you agree? The waitress explained that the wine is stored on a shelf, causing it to heat up, but she offered to bring us some ice to cool it down. However, why should I dilute my wine with water and wait for it to cool off with ice? Come on, haven't you guys heard of a wine refrigerator? This is simply unacceptable for a restaurant that prides itself on its meat and wine offerings, right?
Furthermore, we found tomato peels in our salad, to which our waiter casually responded that it was just a tomato tail.
On a positive note, the steaks were good, but unfortunately, the overall experience fell short of our expectations.
We were deeply disappointed with our visit, as it was completely different from my...

I walked into Meat&Wine thinking I’d have a light dinner. What a joke. This place doesn’t serve “light” anything—unless you count the angelic spotlight that hit my steak as it arrived, like it was the second coming of Wagyu Christ. 🔥🥩🙏
The moment I sat down, the waiter appeared with the confidence of a man who knew he was about to change my life. “Would you like to see the wine list?” he asked. Sir, I was born to see this list. It was longer than a Tolstoy novel and just as intoxicating. 🍷📜
I ordered a ribeye so perfectly marbled, Michelangelo himself would’ve wept and said, “I cannot improve upon this.” It came sizzling on a wooden plank like it had just descended from Mount Olympus on a meat chariot. The knife? Basically unnecessary—this steak practically filed for divorce from the cow on its own and jumped straight onto my fork. 🐄💔
And the wine… oh boy. I’m not saying I cried, but I definitely called my ex afterward to say I’ve found something more tender.
The vibe? A mix between high-end cave for classy cavemen and a Bond villain’s private dining room. Dark wood, soft lighting, and other people pretending they know the difference between rare and medium-rare. I fit right in.
I left with my belt unbuckled, my heart full, and my cholesterol probably screaming. Totally worth it.
This place made me question why I ever ate tofu. 5 stars. Come for the steak, stay for the spiritual rebirth via red...
