We have just returned from a week at the Bel Horizon. I was really concerned about some of the previous reviews prior to arriving and thought it would be helpful to give a fair and honest account of the place. This is not a 5 star hotel so why people expect 5 star standards is odd. It is a budget hotel with slightly dated interior but nothing lacking in terms of functional requirements. I can't speak for other rooms but our room on the first floor had been recently refurbished with new bathroom fittings and new flooring and decoration and a direct view over the main slope of VT. It was comfy, clean and warm with two heaters for drying ski gear As others have said, the location is as good as it gets in VT. The breakfast was basic but good. The dinners were much better than expected with a standard set 3 course plus a few alternatives if you don't fancy the nightly specials. The services was excellent from start to finish and all staff were friendly and attentive throughout the stay. The ski/boot room is a bit primitive but the boots dryers actually work (unlike some 5 star hotels I've stayed in). The room is not 100% secure but does have CCTV so if you have expensive kit, take a lock. This is nothing to do with the hotel but there were lots of reports of skis and boards being stolen around the resort so if you have good kit, lock it when you leave it. So in summary, the hotel is totally fit for purpose and is excellent value, especially when combined with the Sunweb lift pass option. I think the management have listened to customers and previous reviews and made some positive changes to the rooms and catering. However, this is a very basic hotel with no fancy frills or ice sculptures in the lobby so if you want more then you have to pay more. Would we...

This hotel is fit for purpose in a fabulous location! Yes the interior is basic and l Slightly dated but it does the job. (If I wanted to be picky I'd say the room we stayed in could do with a refresh) BUT it was comfy, clean and warm, and all rooms have a balcony facing the slopes!
Breakfast is basic, with ham and cheese, bread, crossiant, pain au chocolate and omlete, sausage and yoghurt, seems like something for everyone but nothing fancy.
I was surprised with the quality of the dinners, you get a set 3 course with the option to swap to alternatives (some you have to pay more for- menu sample in the pictures) All staff were great and happy to help!
I would recommend this hotel to other people, unless you want to pay a ridiculous price for possible pure luxury. But you can't get much better location wise with this hotel! We had friends that came with us but couldn't get in this hotel, paid more for a...
Read moreSo lets say it as it is. The Bel Horizon is a modest hotel in one of the best spots in the Alps! What it is, is a nice little hotel, with hard working staff, offering great value of money in the highest ski resort in Europe with an unbeatable location. Its not a 5 star all singing and dancing modern hotel and the prices dont reflect that either. You want the bell and whistles, go some place else. You want very low priced accommodation with loads of hot water, comfy beds, clean rooms and a nice breakfast, you book here. We took the half board option too and our food was good but unspectacular as we knew it would be. For the price paid, it was what we expected. It was always cooked well and presented well too. We will be back in 2025, you can...
