I had been to Cafe Brunet in 2016 and it was a fabulous experience to dine there-the food and service were excellent. Me and my husband are in Annecy for our honeymoon and we just had lunch at Brasserie Brunet at noon 8th October. Unfortunately it was not what I expected at all. First of all, when we reached there, it was about 12:05. It was not fully occupied and 4/5 tables were vacant; however, we were asked to be seated in the corner. Not proper corner seats but in the nook and that space was not intent for diners. Makeshift table squeezed in the nook. I overheard that a French couple did not make reservation beforehand but they got a table for 4 persons. Secondly , the waitress with blonde pony hair style brought us the wrong main courses (luckily we had not eaten before the head waitress realised the mistake.) Thirdly, the staff asked us twice about our desserts (mine was fig with ice cream) as they forgot what we first told them. The ice cream melted when it was brought to our table.
I have been travelling a lot in Europe and I also obtained my master’s degree in the UK. I have never experienced being seated in the nook. My husband is a polite guy and we Asians are taught to be nice, not to make complaint directly. However this unpleasant experience discourages me from dining at Brasserie Brunet and I will not recommend any of my friends...

Food: It was good in a sense based on the recommendation of the waitress. She did a good job by explaining the off the menu specials. But, upon serving, it was brought to us without explaining what was the food all about, there the value and efforts of the cook was lost. Too bad. Not what I expected from having a star.
Service: The first waiter (a guy with beard and tall) was very arrogant, when we asked for some bread he gave an answer that it is too late for a bread (we didn't ordered yet) it only went well, when Kevin and another lady waitress approached us, there they made a very very good service and super friendly by explaining the menu and made a wine recommendation.(I left him a personal tip and I hope he got it)
In general the all went well except that I am confused why there is a...
Read moreSpontaneous dinner as a reservation in the three star mothership wasn’t possible at such a short note (shame on me). Nice dining room, one of the kind that makes you feel comfy right away. Wine list is short with considerable mark ups, but a bottle of NV champagne by H Giraud was spot on. Food is upscale brasserie fare. My starter was a Pate en Croute and among the best I had on this trip to France. My partners’ tomato carpaccio was immaculate – Intense tomato umami, high quality olive oil and a pinch of salt, sometimes good things can be that simple. My main dish was the house tartar – The hand cut meat was excellent and the fresh herbs reflected the mountainous landscape. I just lacked a savory note to ground things a bit, especially as the portion was rather humongous. My partners’ main veal on the other hand easily could have been granted higher accolades. All in all, a very decent...
