The worst restaurant I've been to in France, and it was the most Disappointing.
The quail was simultaneously overcooked and undercooked. You can see the pitch black quail outside in the first photo.
As a cook myself... My guess is that the quail came directly from the refrigerator and wasn't allowed to rest. Then the oil was too hot and possibly not cleaned between multiple dishes (had a terrible grainy texture to the outside).
Then the inside was undercooked (see second photo). It was the worst quail of my life bar none. The sauce was fine but it was also underseasoned. Pickles were nice and spatchcock was well done.
I was seated at the bar, because of expected reservations, had a younger couple come in after me without reservation get seated at a table. Ouch. Lol, guess they don't like if you dine alone. Didn't mark off on front of house tablet reservation system either. Had a table empty the 45 minutes I was there.
Barkeeper was highly uninterested in serving me. Had to look at him then look at the menus to get a menu. Never offered water, had to ask. The menu was just told "vegetable, fish, meat." I get that I shouldn't expect English to be spoken in a foreign country (and I always try to use my limited French and make sure to say merci and s'il te plaît) but I don't think it was the language barrier being an issue here.
What was also kind of shocking was that the bread bowls are not washed between customers. In fact I saw one with a half eaten (hopefully torn) reused (3rd and 4th pictures). Is this restaurant hygienic?
I decided not to risk by ordering any more. I flagged down the Barkeeper asking for a ticket s'il te plaît.
At the end, despite the terrible service, was told the machine will ask you for a tip. I hit 0% as tipping isn't a custom practiced in France, especially as a first time customer. Regardless this service, food, and experience would merit a 0% anywhere in the world.
Please go to many of the other restaurants in Annecy that are amazing, where they know service and how to cook, are hygienic. Heck even a kebab shop is...
Read moreAfter staying 5 nights in Annecy, this was hands down the best experience my girlfriend and I had. Amazing changing menu that is really challenging your taste buds, the wine selection is large and the sommelier has great knowledge and is passionate about the choice so that you will not be dissapointed.
Definitely reserve a table here and enjoy a variety of special dishes with really good wine. It's a bit outside of the old town disctrict, that's why I believe it's an hidden gem for most tourists.
Oh and not to forget, if you had a good time, the chef might pass you a very...
Read moreIncredible small plates style restaurant A good variety of food, also helped cater to one guest who was gluten free. The wine list was extensive and very well picked. Cocktail list and spirit selection was similar to top cocktail bars in Europe. Best design to the restaurant and really nice atmosphere from time of opening to the evenings end. Also the staff and owner were so helpful and so kind.
Couldn’t recommend a place around Lake...
