I'm typically the type of traveler who regards accommodation as just a place to rest my head between adventures. However, my recent experience at Fauchon Hotel Paris left me with no choice but to advise others to think twice before booking a stay here, especially if attention to details is important to you.
The initial disappointment began with the breakfast menu design. It was clear that little thought had gone into its layout or user-friendliness and the organization was non-existent, making it challenging to discern what I was ordering.
But the real issues surfaced when I requested my coffee with my milk of choice due to dietary restrictions – an oat milk substitute for regular milk. Despite this clear request, I was served a latte macchiato containing regular milk which led to severe food poisoning. Being lactose intolerant, this mishap didn't just cause minor discomfort; it rendered me sick for the entire day, completely ruining any plans I had during my stay.
To make matters worse, the service at the café the next day during breakfast was lackluster and far from what one would consider 'premium and gourmet.' My partner companion and I found ourselves repeatedly ignored and had to ask multiple times for basic items such as utensils and had to ask multiple times for our drinks and spreads. This level of inattentiveness is not only frustrating but also unacceptable for a hotel that markets itself as high-end.
When it came time to check out, we were assured by the Manager that both breakfasts would be removed from our bill as compensation for the inconvenience caused. Imagine our surprise when we reviewed our final statement only to find out that instead of honoring their word, they had merely deducted city taxes and relabeled them as a 'breakfast discount.' This deliberate deception felt like a slap in the face after already enduring such an unpleasant experience.
Lying to customers is not only unethical but also damages trust irreparably. It's one thing for mistakes to happen – they're often unavoidable – but it's another thing entirely when there's no accountability or proper resolution offered.
In summary, from poorly designed menus leading up to poor service delivery right down to dishonest billing practices - Fauchon Hotel Paris's approach needs serious reevaluation. As much as I'd like every review of mine to be positive or offer some form of redemption towards the end, sadly in this case there are too many fundamental flaws that warrant significant improvement before I could recommend this hotel as an option for...

Read moreMy wife and I had a fantastic five night stay at the Fauchon in a Chic Suite. The suite was nicely appointed with comfortable bed and furniture. There was a separate bedroom and living room. The suite was very bright due to large windows facing the Haussmann buildings across the street. The room was very quiet even though the hotel was located in a very busy area. ||We had breakfast delivered to the room daily which was great way to start our busy days. The breakfast was creatively presented and the food was delicious. I knew I was in Paris as the breads and pastries were to die for! There was fresh fruit, yogurts, cheeses and your choice of eggs, French toasts(best I ever had). Any type of coffee you wanted plus juices. The room service manager was just a great guy, very professional but such a gentleman. I thank him for starting our day so wonderfully.||The entire hotel staff were very professional and friendly. They all went out of their way to offer any help we asked for. One day they could not get a taxi by calling so one of the staff actually ran out of the building into the street and grabbed a cab for us, wow!||The concierge staff was helpful even before our arrival making restaurant reservations etc. I would especially like to thank Phillippine for all of her email follow up before arrival and her assistance when we were at the hotel. ||The housekeeping staff were tremendous keeping our room immaculate on a daily basis.||There was only one issue I feel I have to bring up which was quite personal to me. From the time I first reached out to the hotel months before arrival I emphasized that we were celebrating our fortieth anniversary. The reception staff and the concierge desk acknowledged this notification and promised to make our stay memorable. Reality did not meet expectation. The only recognition or gesture was a congratulatory note written in red on a room mirror. Meh!! Perhaps a complementary bottle of wine etc would have been nice to acknowledge our anniversary and our five night stay.||However, my wife and I would not hesitate to highly recommend Fauchon as a boutique home away from home while staying in Paris. The staff and facility made our first visit to...
