We arrived on an overnight flight from New York and were quite exhausted when we got to the hotel at 9 am. Though our rooms weren't ready yet, the lady who checked us in could not have been more welcoming and kind. She asked them to hurry preparing our rooms and in the meantime we relaxed in the pleasant lobby. Our rooms were tiny, but cozy and super clean. The beds were so comfortable that once we lay down, with the drapes closed against the light, we unintentionally slept all day! The location of this hotel is fantastic, easy walk from Montparnasse (where the airport bus dropped us off) and right around the corner from Montparnasse-Bienvenue metro station. So many amazing restaurants right on the block, it was impossible to choose. We walked to the theatre that evening and saw a wonderful show, then had wine and dessert at the place right next door (so close that we could even pick up the strong wifi signal from the hotel). The wifi was excellent. I can't believe anyone is complaining about the quality of the bread at breakfast--go 10 paces and an entire boulangerie is at your fingertips! And how refreshing that this hotel is 100 percent nonsmoking!||A couple of caveats--I had trouble getting the water hot in the shower. Possibly because we were on the fifth floor? And our room faced a street where people poured out of a nightclub noisily at 5 am. But we thought that was rather interesting to observe, and we were there on a Saturday night so I imagine other nights are not quite as noisy.||This was not only an affordable choice but a perfect spot to base ourselves for a day of acclimating to Paris and seeing a lively, colorful and fun part of the city. Thank you to the excellent staff for providing such a...
Read moreThis hotel was horrendous from the moment we checked in. Our room was by far the worst. Everything just looked and smelled dirty. As soon as you walked into the room, it smelled overwhelmingly of stale cigarette smoke. The space provided was so small it was hard to inch around the bed, let alone get anything out of our suitcase. There were several brown and yellow mystery stains on the bed. The floors were very obviously dirty and needed a good vacuum. There was paint chipping off of several parts of the room. The shower head was broken and would not stay, we had to hold it by hand which made it a pain to shower. There was mold growing in several spots in the bathroom which is a health hazard. The one elevator in the building is so tiny we barely fit our two bodies and suitcase inside. The hallway lights do not stay on, they only come on if you turn on the switch, which is also a tripping hazard. The breakfast provided consisted of only cereal and yogurt. There was not a working internet connection. The air conditioning never worked. It was cooler to open the windows. There were also stains all over the walls. Lastly, after walking four miles to and from the Eiffel Tower, late at night, our main door to the hotel was locked. We tried using our room key to get in with no luck. The inside was dark and doors locked, when I started to panic and pry open the doors, only then did the front door man appear from the dark to let us in.
We came on our honeymoon and were severely disappointed. We stayed for 3 nights and paid over $500 for the worst vacation of our life. Do...
Read moreThe hotel is well and centrally located. Close to 3 metro stops. (Station: Montparnasse a stone's throw from the hotel, Station: Vavin 6 min walk) Restaurants and cafes can be found in its immediate vicinity, with a wide variety of choices and price ranges. The Eiffel Tower is about a 40-minute walk away, or with the metro just a few minutes away. The sign of the hotel is high up on the facade, and the entrance is a little invisible on the side. Next to the hotel is one of the largest malls and the large lookout tower in Montparnasse, which makes it easy to have as a reference when you are out and about. Image, view from the hotel window. Although the hotel is centrally located, at a major road intersection, it was not as noisy as I thought. OK. The room was small, and had too few storage options. Wardrobe with some hangers available, safety deposit box available. Missing shelves to put the clothes on. There was TV, a small fridge with space for water and eg fruit and a desk. Curtains and lamps were a little dusty, and there were some stains on the material choices they had for the room. But the bed was soft and comfortable, bed linen, towels and bathroom were clean. A little dusty vent for the ventilation, but the AC worked. The window could be opened, for air. They were helpful at the reception, but had a little difficulty with English. So even though at first it felt a little small, or worn, it was outweighed by the proximity to everything, the food...
