If you have been to Paris, you know how difficult it is to find an adequate hotel stay that is not kilometers away from everything. That was not my first rodeo, and I spent a few days researching stays there. I can confidently say that I am very happy with the results.

De Suez is situated between Odéon and the Luxembourg Garden. The location is just perfect. You can walk pretty much everywhere. But that is not even the best part. The rooms are surprisingly spacious by Parisian standards. There was space. You could walk around, put your stuff here and there, comfortably work without bothering your companion, and even do some morning yoga. People who have stayed in Paris will understand what I am talking about. That is a huge plus for the hotel.

Also, it is important to mention the recently renovated bathroom. It was just normal. But in Paris, within the mid-price range, that is not something you see often. It was super comfortable.

We also got lucky with a great view right onto the Saint-Michel Boulevard. It was charming. And then there was a balcony to soak in the city vibe.

If I had to pinpoint a caveat, I would say the AC was a bit tricky. It took me a day to figure out how to manage it, which cost me a sleepless night due to the cold. Also, we were initially given only two small pillows and just three towels. However, this was quickly fixed after we informed the reception. So, I guess the lesson here is do not hesitate to ask.

Overall, it was a good experience. It would be nice to have more service options, and the carpets could use a replacement. But considering the price, I would not stress too much about it. It is probably one of the best accommodations in the city...

The rooms were appropriately appointed for the price point, the location was nice, and Colombo the breakfast attendant was very nice and attentive.||Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. We understand that AC is only active in the summer months in Paris, but the room was uncomfortable due to no ventilation. When we asked for a fan to help, the response was something I’ve never experienced before. First of all, the night time staff is by himself and has been told that he can only fix “mechanical issues.” He has no authority to offer any sort of solution to a problem.||I emailed the manager that night and didn’t get a response until I spoke with Eric at the desk the following morning. Eric is extremely rude and standoffish. I asked him about a fan and he assured me that no hotels in Paris offer fans to guests. He’s worked in the industry in Paris for 20 years and no hotels have fans on hand. (The first 2 hotels I called for alternate accommodations had fans)||Eric was also unable to offer any solutions because the manager can only make those calls. However, the manager often works from home.||Anne-Charlotte, the manager, allowed us to depart earlier than our original departure date and refunded the balance, but it was a headache to get to that point. All we asked for was a fan and the situation devolved very quickly.||Unfortunately, Hotel De Suez’s desk staff made the stereotype of rude French people true for us…until we found our next hotel which had amazing and attentive staff that were so warm to us.||If you value being respected as a costumer, stay away from...

Hotel de Suez is in a great location — just a short walk to Notre Dame and close to several metro stations. The Eiffel Tower is about an hour’s walk, so I’d recommend hopping on the metro instead. Definitely pre-load a metro card and use Google Maps to make getting around super easy. There’s a selection of rooms, though not all come with a view. Our room was clean and tidy, and the staff were very friendly, which made the stay even more enjoyable. A few reviews mention the lift being small — and that’s true — but considering the age of the building, the hotel did a great job installing it. It’s very handy for luggage and getting to your room. For dining nearby, head towards Odéon where you’ll find plenty of great restaurants — we especially liked Brasserie des Prés and Le Procope.
