Good afternoon, Firstly I would like to clarify that I rarely write reviews on google, however, I felt the need to write the truth about this hotel because I was very disappointed by it due to all the positive reviews. It all began when my friend and I arrived at the hotel, the first problem was that the carpet wasn't vacuumed there were white pieces on the carpet, one bathrobe had a red stain on it, there was dust around the room because I have been sneezing a lot since I'm allergic to dust, and the worst was that under the sink of the bathroom there was mold, yes mold (I will post the pictures under the reviews). When my friend and I were discussing the situation all of a sudden a person who works at the hotel opened the door of our room and barged into our room without any notice, which I was shocked at what just happened, it was unprofessional and rude to barge into someone's hotel room without any notice, and the woman didn't even apologise for her rude behavior, she kept staying in our room to welcome us to the hotel. I'm sorry, but if you want to welcome a guest to your hotel, you knock on their door first and wait until the guest allows you to enter, you can't barge into someone’s room as you please. After all the incidents that happened, we decided to take a shower and as we all know, in hotels when we want the housekeepers to change the dirty towels you leave them on the floors, and that's what we did. Since I suspected that the housekeepers don't clean properly the hotel, I decided to leave the stained bathrobe on the floor as well. When we left the room we told the whole situation to the receptionist and the manager, they apologised and made sure that they would “fix” the situation. When we came back to the hotel we noticed that the carpet was still dirty and when I went to the bathroom to check the towels, I noticed how the hanged bathrobe was the same old stained bathrobe that I left on the floor, this means that the housekeeper didn’t change the dirty towels on the floor but hanged all of them on the wall, which is very disgusting and unhygienic. I immediately told the receptionist and he was very kind and made sure that the housekeepers would change the towels, he apologised for the inconvenience. When we came back to the room all the towels were changed however the old towels were still there… Later on, the manager wrote us a note saying that he was sorry again for the inconvenience and said that if we wanted the towels to be changed we should’ve left them on the floor, however, that’s what we did and they didn’t change them. At the end of our stay I told the manager about the whole experience we had at the hotel, he apologised again and didn’t charge us one night and the breakfast, which my friend and I appreciated. Overall, I would've given this hotel 1 star, however, I added another star due to the kind and professional behavior of one of the receptionists that made sure that our towels would be changed, and how the manager didn’t charge us one night and the breakfast. I’m really surprised how this hotel has many positive reviews and barely bad reviews when I experienced a horrible experience in that hotel, however, I’m not saying that the positive reviews are lies, on the contrary, I’m glad that these people didn’t experience the same situations that we did.
That’s the end of my review, thank you for reading it until the end, I really appreciate it, overall, I hope everyone has a nice day and...
Read moreI booked Hotel Select couple of months in advance for my daughter’s 18th birthday, after reading so many glowing reviews about the staff’s friendliness and location. This was our first trip to France, and it meant a lot to me, especially as my daughter has been going through extremely difficult times recently. Sadly, the reality was very different.||Despite emailing several times with Miguel before arrival, including a request for a lighter room ( I explained my daughter can feel quite claustrophobic), we were placed on the first floor in a dark room overlooking a roof covered in bird droppings. It was disheartening to walk in on such a special occasion and hear my daughter actually say she felt claustrophobic straight away. When I asked for a change, the lady at reception was curt and dismissive, offering no apology — a complete contrast to the pleasant male staff member we also encountered, although she did offer us the same room on the fourth floor where we moved after coupla hours. |To make things worse, in the first room there was a complimentary bottle of mineral water for each of us, but when moved to the fourth floor only one bottle was provided. Small details like this may seem minor, but they add to the sense of carelessness and inconsistency.|||What hurt most was the total lack of acknowledgment of her milestone birthday. I had emailed the hotel on the very first day, addressed to the manager, and never received any reply. Not even the smallest gesture was made, despite the expectations set by the many reviews I had read.||Instead of a joyful celebration, the stay felt flat and disappointing. It honestly spoiled what should have been a very special trip, and I left feeling sad for my daughter. || Not only that, I had specifically requested an alcohol-free bottle of sparkling wine for my daughter’s birthday — something I was fully prepared to pay for and despite mentioning this in advance by email before arrival, there was absolutely nothing arranged, nor any gesture of acknowledgment. I find this quite shocking for a 4 star hotel.|We loved Paris and my daughter wants to return in future, but we will not be returning to...
Read moreWe have just returned from a 4 night stay at the excellent Select Hotel, in the very lovely Place de la Sorbonne. Located in the Latin Quarter (Arr. 5), with good restaurants close by, the hotel is also within walking distance of several notable attractions on the Left Bank and Notre Dame Cathedral and the Marais district across the river. In fact, we found it to be the perfect base from which to explore Paris and just far enough away from the tourist gift shops, cheap eats and traffic throng that line parts of the riverside roads.||The hotel is modern and our executive double room (No 37), if somewhat on the small side, was comfortable and well equipped including TV, safe, mini bar and desk. The bathroom with wet room style shower cubicle was also well equipped with drench head and hand held showers, complimentary toiletries, basic hairdryer and use of dressing gowns. The small windowless toilet, with doors, was separately located at the entrance to the room. Air conditioning (vital as the outside temperature hovered around 30 degrees) was efficient, unobtrusive and extremely quiet. The bedroom window opened for natural fresh air.||Breakfast (for an extra charge) is a continental style buffet with endless coffee or fruit juice offered and a limited selection of hot breakfast food such as scrambled eggs and bacon also available. There is a small bar which is staffed by the reception staff on request but we never saw it being used. Indeed, given that there are three typically Parisian cafe bars immediately outside the hotel with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, we felt we were well catered for in that respect.||All the staff on the reception desk, Laurent, Maria, Miguel, Melvin and Yassine, were friendly, spoke English and were very helpful. When we described the kind of restaurant we were looking for, they recommended local restaurants which fitted the bill. They were also able to suggest the best ways of getting to our target destination, be it bus, Metro, train or walking. ||The cost was not exactly cheap but for a Paris city centre hotel in July, we felt it was good value. Highly...
