Disabled Traveller / Wheelchair Accessibility / PMR Review: Poor in-room accessiblity for travellers with restricted mobility. In my personal opinion, this should not be advertised as a Wheelchair Accessible room, especially for a PMR (Persons with Restricted Mobility) traveller travelling alone. The Management team did try their best to respond, but unfortunately the challenges were structural and cannot be fixed during the duration of our stay. Wheelchair dimensions for reference: https://www.elitecaredirect.uk/shop/self-propel-aluminium-wheelchair-with-handbrakes-ecsp01/ I list the following failures: 1) Bathroom – No chair. For the first night a small stool was provided. The stook was too small and too low for transfer of traveller from the wheelchair to the stool 2) Bathroom - Garden chair. After complaining about the small stool, a steel garden chair was provided . While this resolved the size and transfer problem, the distance from the wall (with the rail) to the chair forced the glass door to open. This meant the bathroom was covered with water after a shower. 3) Bathroom – Floor of shower – The shower floor is not anti-slip material. So after a shower, it became extremely slippery and does not allow for a person with restricted mobility to leave the shower alone. 4) Bathroom - Floor of shower – The shower floor sloped in towards the centre. This makes a wide area of the floor, sloped at a small gradient. This does not allow for a person with restricted mobility to balance herself. 5) Bathroom – Moveable shower wall – If this is opened to allow for easy access to the shower, the bathroom will be covered with water. 6) Bathroom – Not enough support railings – On top of the slippery and sloping floor, there is not sufficient hand rails in the shower. There is a small hand rail near the shower but no where else. 7) Bathroom – there is a towel rack that is placed at eye height that obstructs entry and exit into the shower when the shower wall is closed. 8) Toilet – Left hand support at the toilet. Traveller is paralysed on the right side, so she needs support on the left side. As you can see, there is no support on the left side of the toilet. This made the toilet very hard to use without help. 9) Room – is carpeted and the space for the wheelchair is tight. A wheelchair will not be able to turn around on the right side or the bottom of the bed. Coupled with the carpet, makes a difficult room to manoeuvre. 10) Breakfast Area (No image) – The breakfast area in the basement of the building does not allow for comfortable access for a person sitting in a wheelchair. If all tables and chairs are in use, a person in the a wheelchair would not be able to enter / exit freely. Aug 12, '25: Manager says they will investgate the above feedback.

From the moment we arrived, Hotel Maison Hamelin impressed us with its warm, friendly greetings. The tasteful design of hotel and it's rooms, high-quality amenities, and comfortable bedding set a luxurious tone. The highlight, however, was the breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower from our room's balcony – simply stunning! The hotel's location is also excellent, easily accessible and within walking distance of many attractions. The hotel has a wonderful, family-run feel. Many staff members wear multiple hats, seamlessly transitioning between pantry duties, housekeeping, and the front desk. This dedication is clearly fostered by General Manager Mr. Michael Rousseau, whose hands-on approach and professionalism left a very positive impression. His commendable efforts in service recovery were particularly evident during a stressful situation created by the duty manager during the check-out process. Mr. Rousseau's swift and efficient resolution prevented a significant problem. While some staff members could benefit from additional training in empathy, flexibility, and understanding guest entitlements (like the daily complimentary water supply), this was a minor drawback in an otherwise exceptional stay. Overall, Hotel Maison Hamelin provided a truly pleasant experience. We highly recommend this hotel and would gladly stay here again on our next trip to Paris.

We were so delighted by our 6-night stay at Hotel Maison Hamelin! From the minute we arrived, everyone was so warm and kind. It was morning and several hours before check in so we left our bags with the front desk and went out to get something to eat and walk around. When we went back to the hotel after a couple hours, the front desk told us our room was ready and they had already put our bags in the room. We were so glad to be able to rest since we were unable to sleep well on the plane. Our room was very comfortable and beautifully appointed, the balcony was spacious, and true to the description, had an amazing view of the Eiffel Tower, especially at night. We took a nap and woke up refreshed and ready to explore the neighborhood. The hotel is in the 16th arrondissement, which is close to the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower. There are a lot of bistros, grocery stores, and shops within walking distance and there are 2 metro stations close by. Everyone at the hotel was awesome: shoutout to Cheyenne and Gregory at the front desk and John at the bar! We had an unforgettable stay and would definitely return the next time we come to Paris.

My girlfriend and I stayed in one of the Creator suites (room 706) for two nights. It was very well-sized, having a hallway leading to: *a separate shower, sink, and bath area (although no door for this section); *a separate toilet (although a sink in this room would have been nicer); *a well-sized lounge area with fridge, large TV, sofa, and chairs (plus also led to the terrace/balcony area) *a good-sized bedroom with comfy king-sized bed, another TV, and some other furniture (a cabinet and chair).

The decor was great - it was obviously very recently refurbished, and the colour choices and artwork selected were great - we loved them. The suite was really comfortable, clean, the towels and robe were very nicely fluffy, and it had amazing views from the bedroom windows and the terrace (from where you can see the Eiffel tower).

I've recently had the privilege of staying in Fairmont hotels, and it's clear that there's a slightly different level of attention to detail. For example, despite having a kettle and espresso machine in the lounge area, no cups are provided. On the first night, I had thought this was an oversight so I went to the bar area and asked for a couple of cups (which were politely handed over), however, after the room was serviced the next day, the cups were removed and not replaced and I couldn't be bothered to go down to the bar.

I also had bought a bottle of wine (we were celebrating a birthday), but had neglected to bring a corkscrew (an oversight on my part as the last couple of Accor hotels I've stayed in have provided these in rooms). The very nice man at the bar kindly lent me his, but I was surprised that the hotel didn't have spares.

Some other small areas that I would expect to be looked at when staying in rooms at this price point: *The lift doesn't require a room key to go up to guest rooms, so my partner was a little surprised and concerned about the security. It is a very nice part of Paris, so we didn't feel scared in the slightest, but I was a little surprised as even at Fairmonts, this seems standard. *The doorway to the terrace/balcony has only a small ledge and paint seemed to have started chipping away from it as people had stepped on it. Potentially rearranging the furniture and having a larger step (or multiple steps) may have made this nicer. *A very small detail thing - in the shower, the shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel dispensers were all positioned at slightly different positions rather than in a straight line. The shampoo fell off the wall (I believe it had been glued on to the tiles) during our first night, so that remained on the floor of the shower until we left (we had reported it falling to reception). Additionally, there was no dispenser near the bath which might have been nice for creating a bubble bath. *Despite having worked in the audio-visual events industry for well over a decade, I could not get the casting feature on the TVs to work. The TVs used Airserver (which is normally great), but kept returning an error when I tried connecting (and I tried multiple devices). Obviously not a deal breaker, but casting is always nice, so I'd encourage the hotel to check out the system for any issues.

Overall, it was a very pleasant stay. We slept very well on the fantastic bed. The staff were all friendly and polite and made us feel welcome. And the views were great. I'd happily stay here again, but perhaps only once cups are provided as standard in...

We had a lovely few days in Paris visiting the sights. The people were all lovely and Paris was very clean. We struggled to find bins in places yet there was no litter either. The hotel was perfectly located with many sights such as the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe being within easy walking distance. Those a bit further away were within easy reach via the Metro as was Gare du Nord to where we arrived on Eurostar. The station by d'Alma bridge was a leisurely 15 minute walk where we caught the train to Versaille. The evening dinner cruise down the Seine was the highlight of the trip. There are supermarkets and plenty of restaurants within walking distance of different cuisines. Our favourite was at the top of the road, le Copernic ... the steak is to die for and reasonably priced.

The hotel is quite small in comparison to others and the staff are all very friendly. They do have a gym and sauna, a bar and sitting area and serve breakfast but we did not partake of these. We chose a junior suite which is an L-shaped room wrapped around the lift. We were a little concerned having read other reviews about hearing the lift every time it went up and down but we didn't hear it at all. There are plenty of plug and USB sockets. The room was on the back of the hotel so the view was limited to other buildings. It may be possible to see the Eiffel Tower from the front rooms as you can from the outside front of the hotel. There were plenty of lovely toiletries and a bathrobe and slippers although you do need small feet! If you are staying for more than a couple of nights you will have to live out of your suitcase as there is a small hanging rail but no drawers and no cupboards to put any clothes in.

There were a couple of things that could make the stay more pleasant. The Nespresso machine was topped up with 3 pods each day, plus 3 tea bags (for two people why not 4 of each?) but no milk pods. There were also two bottles of water on arrival - one still, one sparkling (what I don't understand is why the room has a nightly rate and if it has five separate bookings they supply five lots of water but if you book five nights in one booking you only get the water on arrival, that is not replenished daily). Although you had water and coffee there were only two glasses in the room and if you bought wine or pop for instance to have in the room you had to swill them to change between coffee/tea/water/wine/pop. A mug for the hot drinks and a glass for the cold drinks each would have been nice. There was also no glass in the bathroom for swilling your mouth. There was a desk and bedside tables but a small table by the sofa for your coffee cups would have been handy. The only other issue was the size of the safe. You can fit your documents and a normal sized camera and possibly a tablet. I have a smallish (14") laptop and it is the first hotel safe that I have not been able to fit it in - some are a tight fit and it has to go through the door diagonally and will then flatten in the bottom but it wouldn't even go through the door.

Apart from that, fantastic hotel and will definitely be returning there again to see some more...
