Latest Edit - Due to the owners’ prompt and courteous responses, I have updated my star rating; I appreciate a family owned business being willing to make amends for a less than pleasant experience. Unfortunately we are no longer in the area, but appreciate the kind gesture. Best of luck to this establishment.
Original review:
Great location, not so great service or food. Beware your server may try to take advantage of Americans. We don’t speak much French, but we always make an effort and can get by if needed.
I first asked for a Bellini, which is on the menu, and my fiancée asked for a champagne. I told the server 3 times I wanted a Bellini, as she kept on asking if we wanted two champagnes. I ended up being served a regular champagne, which was fine. My fiancée also asked for a well done burger, no tomato, which was verified by the server. He was served a medium rare burger with tomato. My chicken salad had 2 tiny pieces of chicken on it. The food was ok, nothing great. The drinks seemed to be very reasonably priced.
The biggest turn off for me was that the server lied about service being included. My understanding is per French law, the service charge is included, but it also says service included at the bottom of the receipt. She asked for a tip for service and said a couple times the service was not included, even when questioned by my fiancée. I don’t appreciate tip beggars or scammers.
Edit for owner - it does not appear I can reply directly to you, but I appreciate your prompt reply. We were there approximately 7 pm today (9/17) and sat outside; my final bill ended up being €61. Order was 2 champagnes, a burger, and a Caesar salad. At the least I’m happy to have supported a local business rather than a...
Read moreThis was one of the first restaurant we dine in Paris. This place is near our hotel Elysees Union. The restaurant is very clean and the people are very polite and extremely attentive. The restaurant is on the main street with many other restaurants. It's quite hard to choose, but my daughter found this one on Yelp. We ordered the escargots but somehow due to communication, they didn't come out, we missed it. My daughter really liked the duck breast with wine sauce, she loves duck prepared by French chef. My wife got the fish which was delightful. A little friend had the pork loin which was delicious and tender, he finished it in a flash. For me, I got the steak which had nothing to cheer about although the sauce was quite unique and tasty. The steak was a little chewy compared to sirloin steak in the State which much more tender (with just salt and pepper). Anyhow, it's a very nice and cute little restaurant, it has tables outside so I can go to smoke after the nice dinner. Everyone's happy with their meals after a short flight from London to Paris. We're ready for Eiffel Tower because this restaurant is really close to Parvis Des Libertee et des Droits where people takes many nice pictures of the...
Read moreWe went in for dinner on December 30th with family of four. We got seated right away and initially had high expectations. However, the snails we ordered were absolutely horrible and taste like rubber. I told the waiter and owner , they promised us to remake it and they took it back. But when they came out again, the snails were identical with the ones they took in, and also taste like dry rubber. Absolutely not edible.
The owner initially only took 1 of the 2 plates of snails we ordered off the bill because he said we ate 3 already. When we left, we took one of the snails as evidence to show how disgusting the quality of food was, the owner yelled at us and wanted to take it back from us. How dishonest does a business owner need to be to promise us all snails are freshly made but yell at us for taking one away? Not to mention the steak was a very thin sliced that’s cooked to well done rather than the medium I requested.
If you can, avoid this place...
