Great hotel in a fantastic location, beautiful decor and staff that truly work as a team to make your stay exceed expectations.
Just returned from 4 nights at this truly lovely hotel. On arrival it instantly gives you a boutique vibe and staff engage with a level of personable service that makes you feel you are valued.
The hotels location would be very hard to beat. It is a 15 minute walk from the Gare du Nord and very easy to navigate to. There is no shortage of great places to eat, drink and purchase items from, all within an easy 5 minute walk. There is metro and bus services within a couple of minutes from the hotel entrance, these include the number 54 bus that takes you to/from the Gare du Nord. From the hotel we walked to most of the major landmarks in Paris, these included the Eiffel Tower, the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre, the Moulin Rouge, the Arc de Triomphe, Grand Palais, Place de la Concorde, Musée du Louvre and many places in between.
The decor throughout the hotel is not your standard toned down minimalist look. It is very clean, blended and beautifully executed in all areas from corridors, social areas and rooms.
Rooms in Paris are quoted as being small (as with most major cities across the world), however, the twin room I stayed in was ample and definitely exceeded expectations. Storage, sound proofing, space, light, comfort and the bathroom were all 5 star. Water, tea and coffee are available in the rooms and staff happily resupply if you need extra. Products provided in the bathroom were truly lovely and leave your skin feeling soft and pampered. House keeping were efficient and accommodating to requests and always made the return to the room after long days out an inclusive part to the great adventures of that day. The beds and linen were very comfortable and definitely enabled a relaxed sleep after long days out exploring Paris.
All the staff at this hotel truly go above and beyond to ensure your stay is exceptional. It is clearly evident that they work as a team ensuring each guest is welcomed and engaged with every time you arrive/depart on your daily adventures.
If you are planning a trip to Paris for personal or business reasons, I would highly recommend you stay at the Mercure Paris Butte Montmartre Basilique. The hotel offers a standard that exceeds expectation and the guide rating on every level.
Additional acknowledgment and special thank you’s to Charles, Jade, Victoire and Alexandre, your engagement, sense of humour and service added an extra unique ingredient to the memorable 5...
Read moreThe plus with this hotel is that it's conveniently located in the heart of Montmartre, and the metro station is close by. It's on a main street which is busy, but has a nice boulevard in between to walk on. The street it's on is a bit tacky - lots of cheesy tourist shops, fast food restaurants and of course, the erotic/sex shops. lol. But once you walk off that main drag, you get into the charming streets of Montmartre. So this is a great location for walking around and just taking in the vibe that is this neighbourhood.
We stayed at the Mercure La Sorbonne Saint-Germain-des-Prés the first part of our trip. Compared to that, this location is a bit tired, smaller shared spaces (the lobby and the breakfast area are one in the same) and with even smaller rooms. They feel like dorms. I get rooms being small in the city, but it was really tight. We had trouble figuring out where to put our luggage (we were away for 3 weeks so had big suitcases). The room was clean and that is important to us, we also appreciated having a juliette-type balcony above the inner courtyard of the hotel for fresh air. I think because the rooms are so small, they get very warm and we literally kept that door open the entire time including at night. The thermostats were 'locked' at a minimum of 21 degrees which is warm for us. The hotel was quiet, we didn't hear our neighbour despite there being a shared locked door in between. We didn't get the breakfast, there are so many bakeries and restaurants around to enjoy so we opted for that instead.
Overall, it was a good stay with polite and...
Read moreWe visited in early April 2025 and was able to book a couple weeks in advance with a good rate. Got there a little before check in so they did charge us to get in early, but it was well worth it as we were traveling throughout the night through America.
As people who are used to big, American hotel rooms, it was definitely an adjustment as to how small it was but for 2 people it was enough for what we needed. The room was clean, had Wifi, and the TV had AirPlay/ChromeCast Capability if you needed it. Hotel was clean, front staff was nice, but just be aware not all of the staff was fluent in English so if you are an English only speaker, it pays to be patient or to repeat yourself. There was also one night where we got back quite late (around 11:30) and we were waiting a couple minutes for someone to unlock the door, but obviously people have to go do other things.
The nightlife (especially if you're 21+) is amazing. Tons of bars, a theater, restaurants, cafe's, all within walking distance, including Moulin Rouge which was about a 10-15 minute walk. Train stations are all quite close, and if you do have a rental vehicle, there was parking down the street that was a reasonable price.
While I never felt unsafe, I do think it pays to keep your belongings in view or somewhere secure as it could get quite crowded with the nightlife. All in all it was a great start to our 10-Day French Getaway, and would totally recommend if you're looking for a clean, nice place to...
