This hotel is located just around the corner and a block away from the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre (literally 500 meters away). I was a bit concerned about noise from Rue de Steinkerque - very popular area for tourist shops on the back side of the hotel) but it was not an issue at all. This is a very quiet hotel.
The location was excellent regarding walking distance between several Metro stops (Anvers 300m, Abbesses 350m, Pigalle 450m, and Barbès-Rochechouart 700m). Tons of shops and restaurants within very easy walking distance. Can't say enough positive about the location.
We reserved the "Apartment with 1 bedroom for 4 people" so we were very pleasantly surprised that our room actually had two separate bedrooms in addition to the fold-out couch. One bedroom had a queen bed and one had a twin/full, which worked out perfectly for us. The room was very nicely decorated and clean, and has a small kitchen. Largest room I have ever personally stayed at in Paris.
The were really only two negatives regarding this hotel. One was there is a homeless man living in makeshift tent right outside the entrance (which the hotel may not be able to do anything about). The second was the woman that checked us in at reception was not remotely friendly. At all. We arrived at the hotel directly from the CDG airport, between 10:00-11:00am, and the first thing she said was "check-in isn't until 3pm" before even looking at our reservation. I then informed her I paid extra ($63.15) for early check-in, and she said that didn't guarantee the room - it was based on availability (again, before even checking if a room was available!). We would have been perfectly fine to check the bags and come back later. But it turned out our room actually was available. So why even bring it up at all? It was more her negative demeanor than what she was saying - not friendly at all. (Everyone else that worked at the hotel was very friendly!). That was a 2 minute conversation that certainly did not ruin our stay, but it started it off on a sour note.
I HIGHLY recommend this hotel and we will most definitely consider it on our next...
Read moreThe aparthotel is conveniently located at the base of Montmartre, in between Anvers and Abbesses Métro. This is where the positives stop. Unfortunately, the majority of Adagio staff here either seemed annoyed that they had guests to welcome and help, or looked miserable whenever we walked past.
When we arrived, we met the only helpful member of staff but we were early to check in so left our suitcase in the storage room which is out of sight of the front desk. We were not given a tag/ticket (apparently more were being delivered some time that week — order more promptly!!) so had to rely on nobody stealing it from the room while we were out.
When we came back later that day, Hakima was on the desk. I’ve never met somebody so disinterested in my life. She took 20 minutes to check us in, constantly distracted by her laptop, and when other guests asked to collect their bags while we were checking in, she gave them her entire lanyard with multiple keys on it so they could go in themselves. Amazing display of poor security and laziness!
The lift is so tiny it only officially fits four people, and it struggled to fit myself, my partner, and one medium-sized suitcase.
The room itself was very cramped. I understand Paris in general has small apartments and tight living spaces, but at least make practical use of the space you have. The cutlery for the kitchen was stored with the TV across the room. The furniture didn’t fit in the room properly. The bathroom was horrendously impractical; the raised shower doesn’t have a door or screen, yet the shower head points directly out into the open space. Even wet rooms have some kind of screen to prevent water going everywhere. As a result, the bathroom had black mould and gaping holes everywhere.
The bed was scratchy and the pillows were like sandpaper. They were also very flat so only really suited front-sleepers.
I’ve stayed in Adagio places several times before and this was by far the worst. I shan’t be recommending it to anybody...
Read moreWe booked this hotel thinking they were affiliated with an aparthotel in London. It seems they are not. We booked a one bedroom and ended up with a two bedroom, which has a kitchen and living room/dining room combo. The room was spacious and it was in Montmartre.
The hotel is at a dead end street. We had to drag our suitcase partway on the cobbled stone street, then walk six steps down to get to the lobby of the hotel. There was no ramp.
The place was cheaply decorated and uninviting. Why was there a weird cut-out of a little girl with balloons above our bed? They were also in the common hallways. The bed mattress was made of cheap foam. The two sofas in the living room were basically twin sized beds. The sun was hardly around during our stay. The teal color they have chosen for the curtains and sofas didn’t really help brighten our room. It was too depressing to be there. Most of the staff was dull and unfriendly people.
As for the kitchen, the dishwasher smelled stale inside.
The water heater for the shower was in our living room. Luckily, we didn’t shower consecutively. We would have run out of hot water. The towels were small and thin.
They don’t clean your room. You can change the sheets yourself. But we found out that you can pay to have it serviced.
We had enough of this place with six nights. We decided to leave a day early and move on to a real hotel. In many ways, this place felt like a youth hostel. On our way out, I was going to weigh our luggage. Turns out it costs 1€. Every service seemed to come with...
