Deciding to stay at this hotel was one very expensive mistake. We came to stay here for 4 nights between 12.04.23-16.04.23 but had to leave after one night.
In the room which we booked “Skylight Deluxe Executive Room” was a terrible smell, it was the most stuffy room imaginable. We attempted to open the window to try to remedy that but the mechanism was broken. We immediately reported this to the reception and were assured that it will get fixed the next day. When we tried to help our situation by using the air conditioning unit, the controls for it came off the wall and after it was switched on for hours - it made no difference. As a result we had a completely sleepless night due to lack of any good air to breathe in the room. The next day, after reminding the reception about the broken window, we left to see the city. When we came back in the evening, we were explained that the window is not broken but actually disabled because previous guest had committed suicide via this window so they had to block it to prevent any future incidents. When we asked for a different room, we were explained that the hotel is fully booked; but what was even worse is that at already 8pm all managing staff had left the hotel so nothing could be done until the next day. As we wanted to sleep at least once in three days with no solution in sight from the hotel, we abandoned our room and moved to another hotel.
All of the above came on top of a very firm mattress, which we tried to remedy by asking for an extra duvet to use as a topper but they had no spare duvet to give to us. The hotel itself has no atmosphere, doesn’t look well looked after and their breakfast area is located in the hallway/walkway to the lift so even having breakfast was an unpleasant experience. From the moment we arrived, customer service was non existent as nobody even offered to help us with our suitcases, and no tea/coffee was offered during breakfast, it was all on “help yourself” basis.
This hotel deserves two stars at best but spending in the thousands on a room here makes absolutely zero sense. Try to avoid at all cost as there is no shortage of other hotels in the area that will be...
Read moreHotel du Ministere is well situated for a range of metro stations. It’s close to central areas in Paris and communication through Booking.com was prompt. We had a very positive check in experience. The bed was comfy. Here the positives end I’m afraid. ||As two women travelling together, we asked not to be on the ground floor or next to the lift. There is one room in the whole hotel that would mean you got both of these things and they put us in it. Not a great start and the noise from the street was loud throughout the night. |There were 3 lights in the bathroom, only 1 working. We complained about this twice but nothing was fixed. |We had a kettle… There was nowhere to plug it in on the little area where the kettle lived and the cable was too short to reach from the floor. It wouldn’t plug in on the desk either, meaning the kettle had to stand on the floor if you wanted to use it. |Breakfast was interesting… a variety of American foods and continental. Mystery yoghurts in pots that weren’t labelled. Bon! |The hotel kept our luggage on the last day but my main gripe is that there was no toilet available for us to use. The guy on reception was nothing short of rude in saying there was nothing today (unhelpful). I asked if we could use the staff toilet in that case as we were heading the hour to the airport and he was really rude saying, ‘you never asked for the staff toilet’. Who does?! I’d have thought in hospitality they would make a gesture, considering the inflated rate we paid through the Olympics. ||Overall, we had a comfy bed but a poor sleep and felt like we were an inconvenience. I certainly...
