Having stayed in Morzine 5 previous times in a mixture of private & catered chalets, Hotel Le Concord is my first experience of a Morzine hotel. The location is respectable just a few hundred metres from the town centre. My room (a Superior Double Room) is lovely and looks out onto the 'Super Morzine' side of the valley offering great views of the lanscape.
The room has the essentials you expect, comfortable double bed, sizeable wardrobe & shelving, bedside table and, to my delight, a large bath. The toilet room was rather small however and in my opinion, somewhat illplaced radiators either side seemingly made the room smaller. I found myself constantly catching the radiator as thermostat knob protruded around 5cm out.
The only light in the bathroom was above the mirror and offeres little light over the bath which was a bit of a downside. I also noticed that the water is definitely tailored to the hotter side of things. Getting 'cold' water isn't possible as it comes out warm and the hot water comes out scolding.
The breakfast menu is modest but in my opinion, very nice and consistent each morning. I've been here forna few days so far and also been in the pool twice, it's a small pool but is enough to have a little paddle or just a soak. The pool water is really cold in my opinion and somewhat uncomfortable, frequently colder than the outside temperatures. The sliding doors in order to get onto the balconies are either stuck in place or simply very difficult to move also.
It's a lovely hotel that offers exactly what you need, however, as with everything, there is room for improvement. I'd happily stay here again if I come back to Morzine...
Read moreThere are many pretty, characterful properties in and around Morzine; this isn't one of them! To be fair, it is clean, and located an easy walk from the Pleney or Super Morzine lifts. It is possible to ski back to the hotel from the Pleney area when there is sufficient snow cover. The positive aspects of the the hotel are quickly outweighed by the negatives. The location is good but sat on a busy road, the road-noise is significant even with the shutters closed. The food is plentiful but heavy and lacking vegetables; breakfast was machine-made coffee, one tiny croissant or pain chocolate, strange breakfast cereal - although cornflakes did appear on one day, and one batch of scrambled egg that remained lukewarm for up to an hour; the bacon was OK and the sausages the normal exploding rubber euro variety. The bathrooms were small and modern but the sink had no plug and the shower had no shower basket or holder for (your own) toiletries. Rooms were made up every day but we were provided with one microscopic piece of soap and a sachet of shower gel per person - and for our entire three day stay. Upon checkout we were allowed to store our bags in the TV lounge until the evening but upon returning and seeking to get changed we asked for the lights to be turned on but were told there was enough light and we should open the curtains - very helpful! In essence this barely counts as an hotel, the people are friendly but clearly don't like spending money on their...
Read moreJust returned from a long weekend at Hotel le Concorde and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is well located and is only a 5 minute walk from the town centre bars, restaurants shop and the main ski lifts. The hotel is also on the main road and I am sure a bus will pass although we never used it. The hotel is very clean and warm with a lot of very nice decorations which make the hotel very comfortable. The dining room is large and airy with a fantastic billiard room and sitting / TV room which were very comfortable. There is a small, very well stocked bar where you can relax with a drink before or after dinner. Again this is well decorated and comfortable. The bedrooms were warm and functional with lots of hot water available and again it was comfortable. There is a ski storage area which is the garage area. We never used the swimming pool. We were half board and the food was excellent. The service was quick and the portions were great. A choice of cooked breakfast or cereal with bread tea and coffee with orange juice. This set us up for the day and on returning at night we were served delicious local produce which we cannot fault. The staff we very friendly and attentive without being imposing although were always there if we needed anything. All in all we cannot fault the hotel, the staff and the service they provide and we will return hopefully. Thank you all for a short but comfortable stay. Susan and...
