La Bonbonnière is a pretty good patisserie. Now the reason why it’s not excellent is mainly because the pastries fluctuate in quality; in other words, sometimes they’re good, sometimes they’re not.
The Lemon Tart which was top-notch. The pastry was on point with some of the better tarts I’ve had and the lemon curd was homogenous in terms of texture.
Opposingly, the Mille-Feuille was abysmal. The custard was curdled and dry, the pastry lacked crisp pastry and the iconic chevron patterning was absent (instead, it was replaced with some sound caramel).
The following day, I had the Raspberry & Pistachio Macaron. The Macaron exterior was perfect; that is, it was light, fluffy and airy. The pistachio creme was sub-par.

Read moreI’m surprised at the recent negative reviews comparing the bakery so poorly to its previous owners. I visited a couple of years ago and loved it. Back again now and still think it’s fabulous. Croissants, muffins etc all great. We ordered a birthday cake and it was beautifully done and not too sweet as other reviews suggest. I’ve encountered at least 4 different girls working behind the counter since being here and all have been lovely and served me efficiently.
