Have stayed in the hotel before in 2020.||The hotel complex is has a great view of the valley over Morzine if you choose one of these apartments with a balcony. Even though there was just the two of us, we chose an apartment for 4. Effectively 2 would have to sleep on the lounge fold out sofa bed, so ok for a family I expect.||Our flight got delayed so we did not arrive until around 11pm. As it’s a no traffic resort, we got dropped off at the car park and then taken round in a large type of sledge towed by a caterpillar type tractor. Nice !||Check in was quick and efficient and the staff were friendly, but what we did not realise is that we were not given a key to our ski locker which caused delays in the morning, meaning we were too late to attend our first ski school lesson. Also, at check in we were not given any information about the complex, Wi-Fi, services etc so had to call reception for help in the morning. There was a QR code in the room which we should have used but not being told about this it was not clear. Not a great start to our trip.||The apartment has a nice shower and separate bath. Robes for the pool were provided along with slippers. The bathroom did not have shampoo or shower gel which was a little disappointing. The lounge area had a table and chairs, sofa, and a TV. Wi-Fi worked well (able to stream Netflix) and was free, after we asked reception how to connect. The apartment itself was nice and roomy. The bed was comfortable, and the room was warm. We catered for ourselves most of the time, and the kitchen mainly had all you needed. The water tumblers were tiny, so not ideal for G&T. Dishwasher tablets were provided, but if you want to use the coffee machine you either need the capsules or if making your own buy filter bags (no cafetiere).|||Bread & croissants etc can be ordered the day before to save you going to the shops in the morning. Again, we were not told about this but realised during one of our trips to reception to sort out the issues above. ||During our stay we did realize that being adjacent to the exit was not great as noisy guests returning late a night woke us up, so a room on a higher floor would have been better. ||You are allocated a ski locker, which has the usual boot warmers. For some reason our locker was located on the lower boot room, even though our apartment was actually adjacent to one on our floor. Bizarre !. Both ski rooms are ski in and ski out which is great. What we did find out though is that if you attend the 9am ski school there is not enough time to ski down to the lift to take you into the town, to then ski to the ski school, so we had to walk with our skis for about 10 minutes. We could have paid for a horse and cart too. ||We did use the pool, and sauna which was lovely. It tended to get busy from 4pm (we were not there during half term) so arrive early if you want to get a bed and some |quiet time. There was also a small gym. There was also a wellness area with paid for treatments, again we did not use these.||The hotel also has a large car park, but as we were on a packaged holiday, we did not use that. |There is a small bar and restaurant too. The bar did seem to be use a bit when we were though, though the restaurant always seemed quiet.||There is a skiset shop opposite reception and the equipment (ski and boots) we hired were good. ||The shops are about a 5 min walk (Sherpa) or a larger supermarket 15 min (Carrefour). Both well stocked if you are self-catering.||All in all it’s in a great location, with lovely views, and we...

Read moreI visited here with three friends in February 2013 on a snowboarding trip. The Residence Malinka is part of the Pierre & Vacances group of apartments dominating the town of Avoriaz. We were originally booked in to the Residence Douchka but for whatever reason, we were allocated a room in the Malinka instead. The reception in each of the apartment blocks is part-time only. We arrived a few hours early to check in, but quickly found that the reception in the Residence Saskia just around the corner has the main reception and we were given the keys to our apartment promptly by the helpful and friendly staff there. The apartment was very small but sufficient for our needs. We had a bunk bed right next to the front door, a coat rack, a large wardrobe with overhead storage, a small bathroom which housed the toilet, basin and a bath with a shower in it. The main living space through a dividing door comprised of a table and chairs for four people, a very small kitchen which included an electric four burner hob, a sink, a refrigerator, basic microwave and a dishwasher. There was no oven or grill. The kitchen was reasonably well stocked with cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils. The main seating area consisted of two bench seats facing each other, both of which doubled up as the 3rd and 4th single beds. We had a small 15" LCD TV in our room which was ok but it was a very basic model with no HDMI or SCART sockets available to connect a media player into. It did have a component input though. TV channels were restricted to the local terrestrial service only. WIFI was also available for 10 euros for the duration of our stay. This is done by connecting to the unsecured network and then opening your browser, which redirects you to a site where you can purchase access via a bank card. The WIFI was of limited use though, despite having an access point just outside our front door, we needed to be almost at the front door to get any signal at all and when we did, the speed was relatively poor and not sufficient for video calling. There did appear to be ample 2G mobile phone signal in the town as a whole including in the apartment. Unfortunately I can't comment on the 3G or 4G signal as we didn't have data roaming enabled. The local amenities were all perfectly adequate. There is a Sherpa mini-supermarket just around the corner and a bakery just opposite. There is a larger supermarket further into the town and quite a good choice of bars and restaurants if you choose not to cook. Given that for 5 days, it cost us £90 each and the accommodation was clean, warm and dry I would definitely recommend staying here. Just don't expect much privacy from your friends or many luxuries. This is fairly basic, no-frills...
