Restaurant Les Fontaines Blanches — Restaurant in Thonon-les-Bains

The location is good and the food is probably good as well, but we didn't have a chance to try. The staff is very ignorant, you need to raise your hand several times to get an attention or to go and find your waiter by yourself. Weve been waiting for our order about 40 minutes when the electricity was cut off in the whole building, but the restaurant looked to be working in a standard mode - people were eating, staff was running back and forth and nobody told us that the "food production" was stopped. After more than one hour we asked how much more time we should be waiting for food, the answer was "you see, there is no electricity, so we don't know and haven't even started". That was a big surprise being that the restaurant known as "reliable". They should have warned us that no-electricity is a problem since we were with kids waiting for nothing (even 40 minutes should be fine to get the food prepared though). Then another 15 minutes to wait for the bill for drinks and finally another 10 minutes to find a waiter again and ask him to "take" money to cover that bill. Complete...

We just finished a fabulous meal at Les Fontaines. The evening started with a lengthy wait at the door just because the place is so popular. This can't be helped as all of the restaurants are busy from 6 to 9. The gentleman that greeted us at the door was professional, polite, and friendly. A great start to the evening. Our server took us to the table and was friendly and seemed happy despite how busy everyone was. This was the same for all the staff we saw during the night. It makes a huge difference when staff are happy at work. The menu selection is hugely varied and the choices available made it difficult to decide. All the dishes served were top quality and the family lived them. We fully intend to go back tomorrow just because there is so much to choose from. As we left the man who greeted us coming in had a few friendly words to say. This makes all the difference on a night out. Altogether a great experience. Forgive the look of the steak in the pictures. I like a very well done steak and it was my choice...

Only one out of three meals Were reasonable, Staff Were very ignorant towards our table, we ordered a cheese and ham pizza for my daughter it arrived between 5 -10 minutes after our meals had been served, it was only a cheese pizza - NO HAM !! I tried to tell two women waitress about this , I was met with a belittling waving hand from behind her head. Very unprofessional. The second waitress proceeds to tell us we were wrong and she was sure we ordered cheese only.

Steak was very fatty and not very tasty. Again tried to explain but I got more response from the brick wall I was sitting next to.

I would recommend the restaurant invested in some pens and paper to ensure the customers orders are correctly taken rather than what they want...
