Le Fangle — Restaurant in Thonon-les-Bains

Really lovely restaurant to enjoy a nice mountain lunch. We went twice - one in the morning for a coffee when it was quiet and another time at peak lunch rush where we were lucky to get a table after a 20 min wait. The staff are very nice and the food is delicious! They were very busy when we were there at lunchtime and I could see how some people could get frustrated at that because they were really busy and running around like crazy. But give them a chance and just be friendly and relax and enjoy your lunch. We had the mountain salad and a burger and both were incredible. Food is really good but the service was incredibly slow. We came with a large party so we split into two groups and the other group had finished eating their food over half an hour before we even got ours, let alone finished it. We had planned to go to Folie a Deux but by the time we managed to get our food and finish it there was no way to get in as the queue was so big, but the rest of our group had been in there for ages. il peut arriver de se tromper sur la commande d'un vin, en particulier si l'on ne connait pas le terroir. Gentiment nous avons demandé au restaurateur de changer de vin en payant bien évidement notre dû. Nous échangeons avec ce dernier sur la carte et nous optons pour un vin conseillé comme étant tannique et épicé. En nous le servant pour goûter le patron nous précise "si il ne convient pas faites moi signe"...malheureusement c'est encore le cas, il faut dire que l'on nous a proposé le même terroir, dans une autre couleur...mais quand ça ne passe pas, ça ne passe pas. Le vin est sans corps, léger, sans épice et sans bouche. Nous avons honte, jamais cela nous est arrivé de ne pas aimé à ce point un vin, alors 2 ! Un dîner au restaurant doit rester un plaisir, alors quand le patron nous questionne nous avouons que ce vin ne nous convient pas non plus et demandons pour le coup 2 verres de Saint Joseph qui fut apprécié cette fois ci...et même désiré puisque arrivé presque à la fin du repas. Au décompte final le restaurateur facture les 2 bouteilles commandées et non entamées alors qu'il vend également ce vin au verre. Il est évident qu'il va revendre les 2 bouteilles en question au verre et que par conséquent il aurait pu facturer 1 bouteille sur 2 ou 4 verres. Nous payons sans rien dire puis lui avouons que cela n'est quand même pas très commerçant et là M. s'offusque en disant que nous l'agressons. Au revoir, à bientôt...oui mais...
